It’s yet again another trip to ‘Camp Blood’ for some unlucky teenagers in Friday The 13th Bloodbath! This three issue series was written by Brian Pulido and Mike Wolfer. It was published in 2005 and is worth hitting ebay for if you are a Friday fan.

The story seems simple at first. After a hysterical prologue several teens are drafted in to help fix up Camp Crystal Lake before the kid’s arrive. All the usual character types are accounted for. There is even a punk girl by the name of Violet which will ring a bell or two for fans of the film series. It isn’t long until the teens pair off to explore Crystal Lake and naturally each other. Until Jason shows up and crashes the party. Then it’s gore to the wall mayhem from then on to the satisfying finish.

Pulido and Wolfer sketch a overall solid Friday tale. One I would love to see be turned into a picture at some point. At first it all seems over the top. Shadow organisations wanting to capture and make millions from Jason, cover ups and a genuine sad trait all of the teens seem to share in regards to the past. However if you can get over the lack of character development the story will own you.

Jason looks amazing in all three issues and the kills are great and nasty.

Also get ahold of Friday The 13th: Fearbook. It acts as a cool sequel of sorts to the Bloodbath series. Jason returns to tie up some loose ends in a excellent show of one gal’s determination to live. Again great story and some impressive art which I liked more so than the art in Bloodbath. Check this series out. I urge you. You won’t be sorry you did.

note: there is a twist of sorts to this tale. So I apologise for not going into much detail but you will be glad I never as the events unfold unspoiled before you!

I can’t speak for the rest of the team on the site but this fan is pissd. Thanks to the guys on the imdb boards we have the details on the killer cut additions. This is what you can expect.

-the bear trap/burning sleeping bag scene is longer
-you see Jason sharpening his machete after finding Clay’s backpack
-Whitney escapes, makes it all the way to the house where everyone else is, is about to bang on the window where Bree & Trent are banging but Jason catches her before she can.
-Aaron Yoo death is much more graphic
-Trent & Bree sex scene is longer
-Trent’s death is much more graphic
-When Clay & Jenna are running from the house they find Lawrences body floating in the hot tub, then they find Chelsea’s body in the woods. You also see glimpes of Jason’s face as a child and as an adult.

As you can see it hardly adds up to a viewing experiance akin to a whole new movie does it? I have nothing against Dunes but for future refrence I wouldn’t go about hypeing up a extended dvd which amounts to 6 or 7 min of new footage. Fuller wen’t out of his way to explain how the fans would be getting a whole plot line reinserted into the film, almost 20min worth. This aint that I’m afraid. Sound off in the comments. Peace.

Hi everyone. Not a huge update. As you all know the Dunes gang are all about the Elm Street remake at the moment. (The less said about Nancy=angry goth social outcast the better am I right?). But you know this is a small but vital bit of news I think we missed. Im sorry if you guys are allready aware of this but below you will find some hard facts (Would you expect anything less from us?) concerning the Friday sequel.

It’s on the fast track. I’d take this to mean that after the Dunes are finished with Elm Street we can expect a new Friday as the next feature. Maybe even later this year when Elm Street wraps.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift have allready started to bash around ideas for the sequel and will indeed pen the script. Say what you will about FvJ but that and the new Friday had some funny teens which I liked. So for me it’s a plus.

Amanda Righetti and Jared Padalecki are expected to return, however it’s unknown in what shape. For example the former has stated he would only return in a smaller role and would love to be taken out by Jason as he feels his character is done. Righetti I guess would have the potential to have the larger role out of the two. Hell, thats fine with me, the girl has acting chops and is very easy on the eye. Bear in mind both star in popular TV shows so it’s also worth considering the fact they may just get dumped. I guess thats down to the sechdule and the writers. Regardless both would not turn the chance down.

First of all I have to state that I am very protective of the series and of big Jase and thankfully it’s a relief to say that I enjoyed the new film. Marcus Nispel does a good job of firstly setting Friday apart from his TCM remake and secondly of injecting a genuine scary atmosphere into Crystal Lake. Also credit has to go out to Shannon and Swift who banged out a solid plot full of likeable teens that you root for.

Personally I found the kills effective but there was nothing here that will go down the classic route such as Andy’s hand stand in part 3 or Marcy and Kevin Bacon’s deaths in the original. That’s not to say the kills are tame, far from it but I just wouldn’t go in expecting to get blown away. The look of the camp is great, the people who decorate the set did an good job of creating a run down haunted camp which time forgot. I liked it.

By now I guess most of you have seen the film and it’s a given some will dig it while others may feel disappointed. I can see why on both accounts as there were some aspects of the film I was down about as an uber fan. For example I loved how Swift and Shannon had pointed out it could be viewed as a sequel but then the damn title at the beginning stating Mama Voorhees get’s it in 1980 was like a time paradox bomb. They just could have left that out or said screw it and tossed up a time title that at least harked back to the original. Also the climax was abrupt as hell but you know these are little things and I wouldn’t say they ruin the film.

Derek Mears is a bloody great Jason. It’s no use saying he’s better than any of the others as it’s just his first outing but to hit the ground running is a positive and I hope he gets the opportunity to continue and develop the role. Travis Van Winkle’s Trent steals every scene he is in. A funny guy who plays a great arsehole. Also of note is how the film, a first for any Friday, set’s up the possibility of two final girls. I liked that a lot. I never knew which one was gonna get it and I guess it will split people down the middile with how it pays off.

To sum up I’d say IMO it’s better than parts 5, 7 (Unless they release it uncut!), 8, 9 and 10 but it never came close to beating my personal fave Jason Lives or the first four entries. It’s going to be interesting to see how the extended cut plays out on DVD. Anyway if you haven’t seen the film yet and you’re still reading this poor example of a review (LOL), what the hells wrong with you?! Go SEE THE FILM!!!! NOW!

It’s a given that by this time next year progress will have started on a sequel to the new Friday. What we want to know is what direction would you, the fans, like to see it take?

The obvious would be a straight follow up to the new film with returning cast (if any live that is!) and crew. But how about going back to the older films? As the new film is said to play as a sequel more than a remake it’s possible.

After viewing the excellent His Name Was Jason (You need to buy it right now folks) my mind got to thinking about how brilliant it would be to bring back some of the classic heroes and heroines from the series. Maybe Ginny or Tina could return to face their fears or Jason could have one more round with Tommy Jarvis? Personally I think it would be GOLD. Especially for the fans and the previous cast members all seem up for it.

If you guys agree then I suggest you all hit the Dune’s blog http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/platinumdunes/ and let the guys know what way you’d like to see a sequel go.

Hello guys! I came across this item today courtesy of the guys over www.dreadcentral.com. The producers of the new movie have said that when it hits dvd it will be quite a lot different to the cut we see this weekend.

“It’ll be 10 to 15 minutes longer than the [theatrical cut], I believe,” Form told Fango. “There were a couple of story points cut out of the movie that will appear in the extended version and maybe a little bit more violence and nudity. There’s one story point, a big thing that happens in the extended cut, that doesn’t occur in the movie [as it will play in theaters], and I still believe we made the right choice to take it out. We’ll also have a special section on the disc for deleted scenes that are not in the extended cut. So there will be portions we put back into the film and then additional deleted scenes on top of that.”

Personally I hope the stuff that has been cut won’t detract from the plot of the film in any way. Sure, I understand some stuff may have to go but if it’s important to the overall structure of the film then it could be a bad thing. Sound off below!

Yo. So I was browsing www.comingsoon.net and came across this quote from Adriane King with regards to the new movie.

“To be honest, I was at first miffed,I heard they were doing it and Betsy and I were approached, or our manager was anyway. I thought it would be great to come back in a remake just as a cameo – like we’re sitting on a stool in the first scene, something like that. Or I could be pushing Betsy in a wheelchair. Just as a fan I thought it was be fun, but we got dissed and I thought, ‘Shoot, man.’” Now, she admits, she’s okay with seeing a reboot come along. “I’m embracing it. I hope it keeps the franchise alive. I hope it brings out a bunch of new fans. Look, it can’t be bad. It’s either going to sink or swim. And it won’t touch the original. Hopefully, they have a different slant on things.”

“She (Alice) unleashed the monster in Jason when he saw her killing his mother. It would be fun if Alice and Jason had it out one way or another.”

Pretty interesting thoughts there no? Personally I’m not seeing how they could bring back Alice but hey Ripley came back so ya never know right? Maybe they’ll introduce the character in the next movie which would be fitting with it being the 13th in the series. Which brings me to this next little nugget. Bloody-Disgusting had the chance to talk to the Dunes guy’s and they had the following to say on a potential sequel.

“I think that if the movie does well, were are all interested in going back to Camp Crystal Lake and making another one,” Fuller tells Bloody-Disgusting in an exclusive interview. “We had a great time and we have Derek [Mears] (Jason Voorhees) for another movie. We would love to work with him again, but we won’t make any plans set in stone until we see if the fans respond well to the one we just did. We don’t know what it would be, because we don’t know the level to which this one will work. The most important thing is the story – it won’t be more epic because it’s the 13th one, it’s important to us to maintain the quality like we have in this one. We want to have great actors, a lot of fun and great scares, that’s what we set out to do. The same way that we didn’t go into TEXAS CHAINSAW trying to have a sequel there, I don’t think were looking to the end of this movie to set up a sequel. We want the story to stand on its own and we want the audience to leave satisfied. Again if it does well, well all come up with a great way to go back to Crystal Lake.”

IMO I like the attitude the guys are taking in regards to a sequel. Get the story right, then the actors and so on. Hopefully they pull off somthing special with the Friday series and we get a new movie every few years or so. I’d love to see them introduce more new characters. As the way I see it, the new film can get away with being a sequel more than a reboot. If they go introducing Tommy Jarvis in the next film for example, it would mess it up. I dun know, what do you guys think?

As you are about to see there were quite a few early story ideas for the new film. Some of them sound very, very interesting while others IMO may not have worked out so great.

Have a gander below and see what you think and then sound off in the comment section below.

Also a big huge thank you to those who contributed to the IMDB FAQ page without who we would not have been able to see what could have been. This is down to them so enjoy!!!

“The Homecoming – While past survivor Chris Higgins attempts to forget her dreadful memories by returning to Crystal Lake with her teenage children and doctor, Jason suddenly returns as well with a vengeance to slice through the high school’s homecoming dance (being held at Camp Crystal Lake), as a man claiming to be his father holds the secrets to where he has been and how he was created. Request to read the script here. NOTE: This story was going to be a sort of reboot, as it told the events of the 1980 original all the way through The Final Chapter, ignoring everything else in the series. This was rumored to be the 2009 film’s plot from 2006 until early 2008. Some things did make it into the final script of the 2009 film (most notably Jason being human and running again).Ash from the “The Evil Dead” series. As Freddy plans to use the Book of the Dead to carry out his deadliest scheme yet – and possibly re-enter the ‘real world’ as a demonic force, Ash must battle him, while also saving kids in a cabin from the deadly wrath of Jason. The script was quickly dropped when Sam Raimi, creator and rights holder of Ash and The Evil Dead series, refused to participate with the idea and when Robert Englund announced he would no longer be playing Freddy Krueger.Leatherface” as well as his family when the skin-mask wearing freak sets his bloodthirsty sights on a group of teens that the hockey masked maniac has been chasing down all the way from Crystal Lake. But soon, the teens discover themselves in the middle of a battle of an icon vs. an icon – of chainsaw versus machete! NOTE: Platinum Dunes, the production company behind both the “Chainsaw” remake and the “Friday” reboot was originally going to use this as a vehicle for bringing Jason back and continuing on Leatherface’s story. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” as well as some of the “Halloween” remake, this was going to show the events of Jason’s life from his childhood up until the very beginning of “Friday the 13th Part 2“. The idea was also going to explain Jason’s supernatural tendencies. This story line was dropped due to the poor fan reaction from other prequels that ‘attempted to explain too much.’ NOTE: While the 2009 film is not a prequel, it shares some similarities with “The Beginning” in making Jason a human and not a monster.Jason still in the year 2525 on Earth 2. The story would pick up directly after its predecessor, and Jason would have landed in the area that used to be Crystal Lake. Not much else is known about this script, except that it would have ‘Uber-Jason‘ killing teens of the future. NOTE: This script was nearly greenlit before the released of Jason X, but due to the poor box office returns, the idea was scrapped and the huge success of “Freddy vs. Jason” all thoughts of this script were put aside.

Freddy vs Jason vs Ash – Set to be the sequel to Freddy vs Jason in which the two iconic killers from the first film would be pitted against

Jason vs Leatherface – machete slicing Jason battles the chainsaw-wielding

Bloodbath- A prison bus passing through the abandoned town of Crystal Lake gets into a car accident with two college girls hoping to document footage on the famous Crysta Lake killer (Jason). With no means of transportation for escape, the girls find themselves being hunted by not only the prisoners, but by the famed hockey-masked killer himself! They must rely on a young, handsome prisoner attempting to redeem himself in order to survive. The death penalty has never been so terrifying! NOTE: This script was rejected by Platinum Dunes as a “Friday” script but later sold, where the character of Jason was replaced with a new original killer and the setting was replaced as well. That script is currently in pre-production stages.

The Beginning – Tagging off the success of ”

Jason X2 – An obvious sequel to Jason X, this was going to have

Jason Takes Los Angeles – While being transported along a helicopter ride to a research facility in Los Angeles, a frozen Jason is resurrected by an electrical current and after slaughtering most of the helicopter crew the helicopter crashes before he can kill the one final young research intern, Ted. As Ted makes his way out of the mountains of the desert and into the city, he is followed by Jason, who leaves a trail of bloodshed and murders behind Ted. With the crooked police on his tail, a gang war heating up in his path, and a ring of adult filmmakers wanting him dead, Ted turns to a naive social worker to help save him from it all! NOTE: This was originally going to be the ninth film in the series, hoping to pick up on the trend of Jason traveling to large cities, but when Paramount sold the rights to New Line the script was put in the vault and Freddy vs Jason was made. However, the script resurfaced nearly 18 years after it was originally conceived.

The Revenge of Tommy Jarvis – After his sister is brutally murdered by a machete wielding maniac, Tommy goes on a hunt for Jason. As his wife Megan falls into great danger when he attempts to find the man who scarred his childhood, Tommy must face his fears, wise up, and think of way to protect those he loves while burying evil once and for all – as well as his deepest rooted fears! NOTE: Tommy Jarvis was originally going to appear in the 2009 film but filmmakers thought that his character should be saved for the sequels (if there are any).

Return to Crystal Lake – Jason has not been in Crystal Lake in years. His name is a legend of sorts, and the town has grown comfortable with its surroundings. But suddenly he reappears, ready to wreak havoc. After trapping a biker gang passing through, the hockey masked maniac quickly gets up to his old habits and does what he is known for in Crystal Lake – killing! NOTE: The Biker gang from Part III” were going to play a large role, as one of the Bikers in this script was the younger brother of Ali.

Part XII – The idea was to have a sequel that would also not acknowledge the events of any film from Part VII through Freddy vs Jason (excluding Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X). The idea was to put Jason back in Crystal Lake, have him chase teens, and give the series that nostalgic 80’s feeling of the original seven movies. Many aspects of this script made it into the final version of the 2009 [i}Friday the 13th but. unlike the 2009 film, this was to act as a sequel and not a reboot of the entire series. NOTE: The entire first segment of the 2009 film will be very similar to this script in its entirety. This was the original script for the ‘reboot’. ”

So there we have it! Personally I really would have loved to have seen the return of Chris, Tommy and Megan in those sequels. How about you?

Fangoria has reviewed His Name Was Jason and the review goes quite in depth about what is included and which gold nuggets to keep an eye out for. Sadly it does confirm that Steve Miner, who directed parts 2 and 3, is absent from the disc. This is a shame as well all know the various changes that took place during part 3’s development. Hit the link below to check it out!
