Balooyezz, San Fransisco and New York City are your examples of the real world. You realise that those two places are hardly normal, they’re the most liberal places in this country. Most people in the rest of the country are nothing like that. Here’s how normal people view race, they don’t have anything against people of different races, but they don’t have anything for them either. They treat different races the same way they treat their own, which means they’re not going to walk on egg shells trying not to offend them. And they don’t defend other races when it has nothing to do with them. That is just an unnatural thing to do. Liberalism is a cult… And Conservatism is a cult too, but that’s another story… For the record, I’m not from the south I’m from Michigan.

And I hate to break it to you, but places like TN, AL, VA, OH and PA (where I’m from) reflect the over all culture of this country a hell of alot more than San Fransisco and New York. I’ve lived in PA, OH, VA, TN and FL. I’ve been to NY and CA. Have you even been to the south? It’s not racist, like liberal hollywood would like people to believe. You liberal types live in your own little world.

And no, I have never in my life seen a group of friends where, four of the guys were white, one of the guys was black, one of the guys was hispanic, one of the guys was asian and one of the guys was gay. At the most you might see a group were it’s wiggers and blacks, whites and a mixed black who has white culture and not hip hop, or a bunch of bleeding heart liberals who are fake and blend into what every culture they’re around.

Balooeyezz, the vast majority of people aren’t politically correct liberals like your self, that dismiss everyone who disagrees with their white guilt ideology, as being “racist and ignorant”. Normal people make friends with others that, they have alot in common with. People with different cultures never hang out with each other, unless it’s a white liberal who feels the need to make up for slaverly by being the black mans sidekick… And that doesn’t mean that all of these people aren’t friendly with each other. Being friendly with someone and being friends that hang out, are two different things. How many teens and 20 year olds hang out with 50 and 60 year olds… That doesn’t mean that these different age groups hate each other.

I hate to break it to you, Kenneth and Lori, but the “real world” includes not only the backwaters of TN and AL, but also San Fransisco and New York City. Just because they self-segregate where you guys live doesn’t mean the rest of the world lacks the capacity to interact with and befriend a variety of different people.

But how many groups of friends do you see in real life that are diverse in culture? That’d be like a group of friends made up of teenagers and senior citizens, it’s just not realistic. And that lack of realism in the way people act is why horror movies these days suck. The characters don’t seem like real people. That just ruins the whole movie and makes it come off funny instead of scary.

I remember seeing Friday the 13th when I was about 13 in the movie theatre in my home town. The woods and lake and style all seemed very familiar to the area where I grew up, making it realistic and frightening. This remake really needs to keep that in mind. If they cast a group of friends that are diverse in culture, fine, as long as its not distracting to the idea that this is a story about a small town campground with a dark past. If its 2009 and their happens to be a ‘new’ lake house somewhere on Crystal Lake that of course is vacant of its parental owners, and the friends happen to stumble upon the old campground, well then here starts the beginning.
Rumour has it that Nana Visitor ( Mrs Voorheese, Jasons Mother) part was cut? The famous KI KI KI MA MA MA sound is Jasons mother, I hope this doesnt become some MTV type version that does not respect the story behind all this mayhem at Crystal Lake. Some of us actually like a story behind a Horror Movie. When all this remake talk started they said it was going to be a combination of Fridays 1-3 & that sounded great, but the new trailer looks like just another PILLAGE of a classic, like The Omen and When A Stranger Calls… !
Rob Zombie took Halloween back to its Horror roots, I hope Friday The 13th does the same.

Katie, you need to stop worring about the rest of the world being politically correct and get a life. Someone disagreeing with you doesn’t make them “ignorant”. If you get out a little more you’ll find that most people don’t share your liberal point of view and no, they’re not ignorant or racist, they’re normal. Hating people of different races and not being sensitive to them, is not the same thing. I’m not sensitive to my own race, that doesn’t mean I hate them.

Sybren, I agree I don’t think race matters. Like the black girl in friday part 6 – she fit in just fine, but givin’ MTV’s strong liberal bias I seriously doubt it will be anything other than a politically correct hip-hop stereo type with an interracial relationship to boot. I’m sick and tired of hollywood putting a politically correct perspective on movies instead of a normal perspective. Nobody said that a group of friends couldn’t include different races, but usually they don’t. Sorry to say, but if you get a cast that works great together, it doesn’t really matter what race they are.
But if they were cast just to reach a bigger public, that’s a big no-no. Just take a look at Busta Rhymes in Halloween resurrection. Purely commercial and annoying to watch. But who knows how the cast for the new Friday is performing together, maybe it’s going to be great.
The violins and maybe that country song you hear in the original Friday the 13th, that’s what I liked about the whole feeling of being in the little area of Crystal Lake.
In what year does the remake take place? If it’s in the present, they indeed should play some hard rock of Alice Cooper, but not the black metal from Freddy vs. Jason. Because then I wouldn’t play the soundtrack too often.
