I didn’t really care much for the remake… Aside from Jason X and part 8, it’s the worst Friday movie. imo

The deleted scene doesn’t look satisfying for me. Either what was in the movie.
I wish Jason would take the mask from a prankster, as it’s the Friday tradition (Shelly and then in part 8).

I like the deleted scene better. It makes alot more sense. I couldnt understand why Jason was in the barn in the first place. What I like about the deleted scene is it kind of tips the hat to part 3. Jason slit Shelley’s throat and took the hockey mask in the barn, and in the remake He chops off Donnies head while Hes wearing the mask. The final cut of the scene didnt really do it for Me. It seemed a little convienient that Jason found the mask right after His sack mask gets ripped. Either way, its a great movie.

Both are horrible. In order to make a mask origin scene better, it would have had to take some actual thought. Not just, oh he just finds it. Those scenes are so lazy.

When Clay approaches Donnie earlier in the film, Donnie mentions that someone is stealing the carosene. Jason doesn’t pay electric bills most likely. I don’t think we needed to physically see Jason steal the carosene to know it was him. This is another reason I prefer the theatrical.
Movies need you to think a little bit, that’s what makes us watch them again. Those little things we may have missed the first time around. Showing Jason stealing the carosene to me was like, giving us too much information.

I like the theatrical version better. Just more serious & not corny as the deleted version. It was too corny to have the guy put on the mask (look funny on him too ) & kinda stare at him. Then Jason just chop his head off with the mask still on. Not to mention we see how fake the head look, so theatrical version for me.

I liked the way they did it in the theatrical version. The decapitation scene just seemed too cheesy.

I think everyone here gives convincing arguments on which version is better.
The alternate version is my choice, however, for being the better. It was more straight to the point and gave Jason a reason for being at the barn. You also didn’t get as much of Donnie’s lame, perverted dialogue. Does anyone really talk like that?

Also, I might be wrong but I don’t think you actually saw Jason’s face in the theatrical version when the sack was torn off. I believe that was “added” on the DVD release.
At least, I don’t remember seeing his face in that scene.

I think they should have come up with something similar to part 3, I think how jason came out of nowhere wearing a hockey mask and the soon to be victim thought it was shelly and then in an instant realized it was not shelly but in fact someone else and I still think that scene is eerie to this day, so if PD would have done something in that perspective I think it would have made the scene really cool.

Both were okay, but the one the theatrical version was more intense. My sister screamed during that part, that means it was good.

I love the alternate version better. We should have seen his face in the alternate version though. That would have been cool to see the joy on Jason’s face looking at the hockey mask for the first time. I love the way Jason’s face looks in the remake judging by that one blurry behind-the-scenes picture and the few frames of it in the actual theatrical version of the movie. They should have shot a lot more of his face than what they did. Still kind of pisses me off!
