Beautiful DVD cover, especially the one on the right! Sorry to cause drama, but this Captain_Brandon guy many rightfully attack, I know. He is a xenophobe who’d made several disgusting comments about many European peoples, and my friend & I chased him off youtube (if he was innocent he would’nt have fled, no?). And yes, he does consider himself the coolest since sliced bread and go on a tangent about his (lack of a) life. Ok I got the bluray had to update my new $800.00 top of the line player i’ve only had 6 months, that sucked. Thin could play the movie, but could not get to the killer cut version!!! would start playing the theatrical version! whe to features and couldn’t get it to change. What a waste, I mean if it’s that hard to fiqure out
unlike dvd’s then for get it! Blu Ray has been nothing but trouble.

right on baz…and how appropriately right after you, john effortlessly posts some real IDEAs. why is it these fuckers making MILLIONs come up with so little with a couple years of preparation, yet tons of random people can come up with better shit off the top of their heads?

gore aside, in this age of special effects, they can’t juice it up a little?…like i watch these jason statham action flicks where they do all this crazy fucking editing that really gets your blood pumping. with all the pathetic attempts to modernize this, we get none of that?…basically we get everything except what works.

how about when jason’s lunging at somebody, cut to some matrix-style mid-shot slow-mo of him smashing their head. is it too much to ask for a little production value? shaky hand-held cameras (that nobody likes btw) is the only thing they can do?

a perfect example for comparison is ‘hatchet.’ that kill where he rips that guys head clear off from the mouth and the camera rotates around them as he’s doing it. that’s a freaking low-budget movie, and that one kill is better than anything they did in this one. it doesn’t have to cost a fortune…if it’s a little bit slick, it works.

The movie was tense at times, but the kills weren’t that intense as we all thought they were going to be. I would’ve expected to see America Olivio’s character be dragged out from the tent and hacked to pieces with the machete, or a nice nod to the sleeping bag kill from part 7. The kill was creative nonetheless but something that Jason himself wouldn’t do. I would’ve loved to see the first kill more brutal than what we’d seen on the screen. It did have an impact but not that strong of an impact. I agree with what one of the posters said about Trent’s death, it could be a little more longer than what it was, he should’ve been put through hell before he met his untimely demise. Maybe an arm hacked off or a leg, or instead of his torso being impaled, why not have Jason slam Trent’s head and impale that part of his body instead of the torso and have the truck drive off with Trent’s head stuck on the spike-thing, after Trent’s head had been impaled, Jason then could’ve swung his machete and severed the head while it was still stuck on the spike. Chewie’s death could’ve been more intense as well instead of having a screw driver rammed underneath his chin, why couldn’t Jason use that buzz saw that we’d seen dangling. Jason could’ve used that to saw off Chewie’s hand with the screw driver in and then saw right through his face and saw down his body splitting it almost in two. Yeah, I kind of like to see deaths in horror movies brutal and bloody as hell, not to mention gory. There’s nothing wrong with showing blood and gore in a Friday the 13th movie, that’s what makes it all the more entertaining. Instead I’ve felt we got a watered down version. We didn’t see a whole lot of blood and gore, maybe in the extended version we will. Here’s to hoping that we will.

I’m on the same page as tommyblah.There should be more prolonged brutality as it may help restore the fear that the originals gave us as kids.Why is it that so many people visit the blog page knowing how to make a traditonal,fearful impact to an F13 movie and so many directors/screenwriters don’t?Are there no fans among them?We are a rare and dying breed folk’s.

I don’t see F13th remake anywhere on Best Buy’s site for 6/16/09, just pt’s 4-6 deluxe editions. I’ll take this site’s word for it though because it’s always been reliable. I’m going for the uncut dvd version, screw the theatrical and Blu Rays.

I noticed someone mentioned RZ Halloween dvds, what is the difference between the 2 that have been released? I have the one that came out in December 2007 I believe it was. Is it worth buying the recent one that came out? The only thing that looked different about it was the 5 hour documentary thing about the movie or something.

yeah that’s part of the problem. some of the kills in this movie were pretty brutal and gory and i was feeling like they were on the right track…and then others were just kind of like, wtf? that’s it?

a couple examples that come to mind –
first kill, ears sliced off? that’s it?
the impaling of the biggest douchebag in the movie…really, you can’t even beat his ass a little first? what was all the build up for then?
danielle panabaker getting impaled with the machete…underwhelming death for an underwhelming romantic connection to the main character…that’s it?

oh man…i always end up bitching about this movie. i don’t hate it. i swear. i just love f13th too much and want them to think these movies through a little more. we always get something so rushed.
