When they made the film in 3D it was completely different technology. In theaters they didn't even have the red/blue glasses, but clear ones. What they did for the DVD was truely the very best they can to recreate the illusion of 3D considering that the film was created for a total different format. I'm affraid the only way we'll ever see this film the way it truely was it to see a theatrical screening or by getting yourself a projector and really expensive 3D glasses which total to hundreds of dollars.
