With all due respect. I read the comments and it doesn’t look to me like the “Michael” above is the same person as “You Joke”, “Jack Mama” etc… I hope people aren’t being labeled a “troll” for criticizing the remake. Not to tryin’ to offend or start anything with anyone who liked the remake, I kind of agree with alot of the criticisms being made about it. And I don’t know if the list by “You Joke” is serious or not, but I agree with it. It mentioned alot the problems I had with the remake… I just really hope the sequel turns out better, that’s all.

I’m really pleased that there’ll be a sequel to the remake. I thought it was a good horror film, not the best in the F13 series, but with a character like Jason, who we’re all so familiar with and who’s had so many “reboots” (I consider anything from Part 6 onwards a reboot) it’s very hard to please all of the fans all of the time. But at least the last couple of F13’s have actually tried to be a little more consistent with the look of Jason (unlike Parts 7, 8 and 9 – which, as a nerd-type, annoy me, JASON DOESN’T WEAR A BLUE BOILER SUIT!!! THAT’S ROY BURNS or MICHAEL MYERS). I agree about the winter in Crystal Lake being a good idea – it’s a theme that me and my little friends used to play using starwars toys in the 80’s and it was always fun, and leaves a lots of room for sequels too. But whatever WB does with this film, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it more than any of the other slasher films around at the moment. My dream F13 Part 2 would have to include the following: Harry Manfredini, Tom Savini, Betsy Palmer, Derek Mears as Non-Zombie Jason, Jason the Stalker in the Shadows until the last reel, Unmasking Scene, Maybe Tommy Jarvis (but he’d have to die) and maybe a return to Higgins’ Haven. I’d love to see Jason rampage through that barn again. Lots of other things that shouldn’t be in there, but as long as they give us lots of atmosphere, rain and a New England setting then I’ll be there for opening night!

My problem with the remake is the same as what alot of other people on here are saying… I was hoping that it would have similar atmosphere and characters as the original 3 or 4 friday flicks did, and I was totally let down. To me, the older fridays had suspense and realistic, likeable characters. While the remake seemed like a cross bewteen, one of those politically correct teen WB One Tree Hill/90210 type of shows and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake. And that sort of thing just isn’t my cup of tea. lol… I really hope the sequel to the friday remake turns out alot better.

The things that I didn’t like about the latest flick were pretty much the things that I didn’t like about most of the other Friday sequels. The over-the-top/overblown stereotypes simply take away from the horror/suspense mood of the films and make them “campy.” This is an element that has existed in pretty much every Friday flick, and I’ve never understood why somebody hasn’t sat back and thought, “Hey, maybe if we made the characters in the film as serious as the overall theme and plot of the movie, a broader audience might take the film as a whole seriously.” For the next one, I would love to see a dark, serious Friday the 13th, with characters that the audience cares about.

f13ticket, How is having one female heroine sexist? If anything, it empowers women. I\’m gay, too but I don\’t necessarily agree with your statement that it\’s sexist. Also, you pretty much DID pick on the list that Stephanie created. 98% of what she said, you shot down and pretty much made it sound like you wanted a carbon copy of the dreadful remake we were presented with. Shannon and Swift made it that way. Get them the hell out of there and let someone else have their take on it. There\’s a reason why profits dropped so dramatically after the 1st week run. I can almost guarantee it that it\’s because the movie wasn\’t dark, nor very scary. It was cliche and didn\’t deliver the hype that Fuller tried to get us to believe it was. I\’d rather see suspense than some chick rubbing her tits and licking her lips, and I certainly don\’t see how people taking shrooms will improve the story in any way. The drug references in the original movie and its sequel were subtle compared to what was shown in the remake.

jasonsfury, the reason I thought some people were falsely accused of being a troll, is because it doesn’t look to me like they were trying to start anything or insult anybody. It looked like they were just sharing their honest opinions… How do you know for a fact, that the people you accused, really were using different names? I’m not criticizing, I’m just curious.
