To say the gory FX are the selling point of the franchise (plot and character take second place) they need to give fans exactly what they want! I doubt any of the directors care that much about them now but if New Line and Paramount are keen on cashing in on the remake now would be the perfect time to release them all as special editions uncut with documentaries and other cool extras. But Paramount have always been a little tardy with bonus features on their DVDs. All the sequels need to be released uncut by Paramount. If nothing else, it will boast one of the sexiest casts so far. And Hodder fanatics may be clenching their teeth at the news of his absence once again, but I think Derek Mears has the potential to make Jason scary again. My main reservation has been the involvement of MTV - surely they have no business making horror films (see Beneath for a perfect example!). But - countless remakes aside - maybe this is the perfect time for Friday the 13th to reinvent itself. And on that note... bring it on!
