Just saw this post and wanted to write a comment about ‘His Name Was Jason’ premiering at the Starz Denver Film Festival.

The screening will feature in-person appearances from Ari Lehman and other guests from the Friday the 13th universe.

Ari, you rock both literally and figuratively. You’re definitely one of the most not only down-to-earth but also personable people to ever play Jason, and that near-last sequence is one I applaud every time I see the movie.

On a different topic, some Friday the 13th footage (teaser maybe?) will be shown at the 2008 Scream Awards on Tuesday October 21st. I will be watching (even though I don’t have the channel – check out how by clicking my name), but I urge anyone who can, please RIP the footage and share it online by any means necessary. Should be a blast!

It was much more actualy informative and enjoyable then many admitedly lame, simple one or two sentence replies from many parties that I feel never would even wanna do these conventions regularly, and you desurve much praise.

That’s cool. A Jason inspired band and song lyrics as well. Now Alice Cooper’s “Man behind the mask” is not the only F13th/Jason tune in town. Can’t wait to check it out!

It’s not every day that someone gets the chance to cement themselves as a big part of horror film royalty. But at a young age nearly 30 years ago, a young man by the name of Ari Lehman cemented his horror movie legacy by popping out of the lake to reveal the very first onscreen appearance by Jason Voorhees! Forever know and forever proud for being the first Jason Voorhees has meant a lot to Ari. If you get a chance to make it to a convention and he is on the bill, you have got to meet this.

Great interview. I just read all of it.

Can’t say I’m at all a Metal/Punk/horror rock like the Misfits type person, as my taste have matured over the last 8 years, and my CD collection is probably vastly different to that of Mr. Lehman.

Having said that: Whoa, what a super sweet looking and genuine sweet acting fellow. If your reading this Ari, you truely come off as a nice guy. You were involved in a classic ‘chair jumper/jump scare’ scene, and a part of a massive franchise that many simply shall never understand.

I quite enjoyed this interview, and his passion for life and work and working on current projects really shines through. And unlike a lot of convention regulars, I would actually like to see the latest two films he mentions he’s working on.

Fine interview, and we all owe Mr. Lehman a big thanks for taking the time to either conduct this audio interview or two write in via e-mail. He seem’s highly intelligent about genre cinema, and not ignorant like many actors/actresses and former actors who simply turned up on projects in the old days for a pay check, without any clear udnerstanding of what it was all about.

I never did much research into Lehman’s background or history, but after reading this interview, it’s good to see that he has such a genuine and significant appreciation for his involvement in the film, his character, and for the franchise as a whole.

You easily get a sense that he doesn’t have some sort of neutral reflection upon his association with the franchise, consigning it to some sort of ‘it was work, and I needed work status,’ or worse.

Also seems like a heck of a nice guy.
