It’s already out… And it’s nothing like the first 4. It’s more like Jason Goes to Hell (without the body snatching), and Freddy vs Jason (without Freddy). Kind of a cross between those two. It has characters like the one’s from FVJ, and an atmosphere like JGTH… The only people that liked it, are the die-hard Friday fans who like all of the sequels. Basically, the people who would’ve liked anything, as long as Jason and the hockey mask looked “cool”.

I really don’t see why MTV had to be involved. You’d think that with Paramount, New Line and Platium Dunes producing the film they’d have more than enough money. It looks like MTV’s involvement is political. Most of the Tv-shows and movies you see anymore seem to have a liberal bias. Apparently the liberals that run Hollywood must think that by making the characters politically correct that some how it will brainwash the viewers into becoming liberal. It’d be nice to see normal people portrayed in films and represented in the entertainment industry for a change.

After reading the story about the upcoming Friday the 13th film and reading some of the concerns folks are voicing on the internet, including here, I have to agree that I am more than a little skeptical with regards to the potential quality of the movie, thanks to the involvement of MTV. However, I can also see the potential benefit to the Voorhees legacy if the character has been a more humanistic approach and origin.

For several installments now, we have seen Jason as this sort of super zombie, capable of taking untold amounts of damage and continuing to roll out the carnage. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, at least insofar as the acceptable efforts (2-7 and Freddy Vs. Jason) are concerned. In particular, this presentation of the character worked well for Freddy Vs. Jason because, well, without that mythos supporting his efforts against the master of dreams, Jason stands no chance in a full-out battle.

However, rendering the character as a more complex and human creature adds the potential of possibly making the character easier to sympathize with. Having a great monster is good for a monster movie, but having a deranged maniac with a child-like sense of right and wrong can be more enjoyable in terms of actual storytelling.

Here’s hoping that MTV’s primary contribution to the new film is going to be just supplying the fresh T&A that Voorhees is known for hunting down and running through with his expected brutality. After all, I wouldn’t expect much in the depth department from the same people who brought us ‘I Love New York’ and ‘The Real World’.

The synopsis sounds good but, how many movies have you seen that the synopsis was great and the movie it’s self sucked. But then again who knows? Maybe the remake will be really good. You can’t judge a book by it’s cover, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Manny, Colin, CJ, and Brooke, I couldn’t agree more. I’m praying this movie turns out good but, I have a gut feeling that it’s gonna suck. It seems too Freddy vs. Jason-ish.

I’m still worried about MTV co-producing the remake. I can’t stand hip hop music and slang, and don’t want to be annoyed to death by it just trying watch the movie. Hell, MTV single handedly ruined the music industry back in the mid 90’s… so I can’t help but to think they’ll fuck this up too. The movie has such of a risk of being politically correct, I just don’t see it ending up all that great. It will more than likely have the liberal PC stereotype that black people are stronger than whites. Jason will kill the white characters with ease, but the black guy will almost kick Jason’s ass… (like in Jason X). I just really hoped the remake would turn out more like the first four fridays.

I am pretty excited about seeing the film. The trailer that came out in December is actually scary.
I am hoping its a fresh take on the saga. I like the Halloween re-imagining (Zombie)and I like what they did with Texas Chainsaw too.

As for Jason X and also Jason Goes to Hell both sucked in my opinion New Line got a little silly and stupid with the characters.

…This seems very similar to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake plot. I gues I shoul’ve known when it said “From the creators of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reamke.” I hate this film. I love the series…but I really think New Line is trying to wreck it. Jason X? Come on. Let down.

Im not digging the wife beater and jacket or even the huge/wide neck but I do like some of the cinematography Ive seen, including this picture. Hope it isnt a rip off of Chainsaw Massacre or a huge letdown.

Does anyone know hoe in depth they’re gonna get with Pamela’s and young Jason character? I’m almost more excited to what’s gonna happen with Pamela Voorhees than with adult Jason.
