Living in Europe, it's really difficult to get exclusive pieces if you don't want to pay huge shipping fees. The thing is that Jason should be represented with a machete and his mask of course. For me, these are the two essential attributes that make Jason so popular. For this reason, I'm not interested in the regular version of the statue even if I'm a die hard fan of Jason Voorhees. Honestly, the exclusive version gets a lot of additional features that most of exclusive statues don't get (just the drawing itself is considered in most of cases as being enough for making the statue an exclusive version), which makes me wonder if the decision-making is very relevant at Sideshow. Customers would be right to ask themselves question about the choice of exclusive version (sometimes it can be very low, like getting an additional artprint, and sometimes it can be a lot, as it is the case with the Jason). However, the statue is originally designed so that Jason holds his axe in a certain way. The switch off hands don't look very nice in the end, because they are just "added" since the pose is not originally thought for them. Instead of trying to make switch out hands just for the purpose of making switch out hands, Sideshow should rather think about the look and dynamism of the pose with both weapons and try to find a compromising pose for being able to display both. In that case, designing the pose so that Jason holds his axe with only one hand would have been better. Going from two-hand weapon to one hand weapon wasn't the smartest choice. I'm still asking myself if Sideshow would have sell out the regular version if they would have add the switch out hands to this latter. Not sure if I'm pretty clear :) At first I was pissed about Sideshow’s exclusive policy, specially because for that one, it’s either the Exclusive or nothing. In cases like these, it's just best to ignore 'em. Anyways, I really like this statue, it gives more of a sense of movement than the Freddy vs. Jason one. A very intimidating figure in Richard Brooker's hulking likeness. They also chose a good environment as well, a very fitting scene, and detail is unmistakable. Though, I can see why so many people would want an exclusive version. The machete wasn't used as exclusively in the movie, so they added it for a truly classic Jason feel, but the unmasked face was something we've come to expect. Still, there were many complaints about how the straps on the Pt. 3 figure hockey mask broke super-easily, so I can rationalize what they're doing. I personally don't like the sculpt of this particular Jason figure but if I had the dough, i'd buy it. To recap, some people feel that the statue is overpriced, others do not. Some think there are imperfections in the sculpt and paint and others feel it is a perfect rendition. It's all a matter of perception. Fact is that Sideshow is offering up a pretty cool figure here and if a person can afford it, great. The problem here is that certain individuals are taking comments personal. You know, I add stories to this site that cover all aspects of the franchise and besides when the new movie came out, topics about Sideshow garner the most heated exchanges. Sometimes I wonder..... Best Jason collectible out there IMO.... but: I can even admit that it is not perfect. Jason in part 3 did not have 2 good ears, the hole placement is off on the hockey mask, blah, blah, blah... don't care enough though as I love it none the less. I only have to movie to compare to and the mask and the bulk match just fine to the movie. Maybe you guys could post some screen caps of this imaginary elite-cut of the film you guys have? Again, I only have the movie, as it actually exists, as reference, so I'm probably missing the obvious flaws referenced in the imaginationland cut. http://yfrog.com/mvjasondj So which of you “elite” superfans can point out the deal-breaking problem to me? I'm serious because you sound exactly like him. As for a dumb moot point: If I go to a "restaurant",and something isnt made to order--yes I'll complain. But Sideshow didnt make this product made to order for you. They evidently made it for people who will appreciate it. Which obviously isnt you... or your ilk. But using your same "restaurant" comparison: I dont walk over to someone's table who likes their steak rare and complain "the chef must be an idiot! He obviously cannot cook--the darn thing's raw". Sideshow knew what they wanted. It passed their integrity department. Its up for order...and whaddaya know--it's sold out already. In less than 24 hours. In the middle of a horrible economic recession. The facts speak for themselves. It's a bona fide success. If this item isnt up to your specs--go have an independent sculptor who will cater to your every whim and fancy sculpt one for you. The show it off an let everyone know yours is better. But understand, this is a mass produced item for working joes who want something nice to display. I am starting to think Allan Apone,Frank Carrisosa, Stan Winston and Tom Savini could have sculpted the darn thing in a team effort and some folks would still cry. Its good. Its sold out. More people are satisfied with it than not. A win for everybody but the extremely picky or never satisfied crowd. Elite collector: are you RedX from statueforum?
