One of our in-progress stories that was not meant to be made public at this time, was inadvertantly released publicly on our website for a short period of time and pulled immediately. This story was picked up by site visitors and eventually made it’s way out to the web.

We were not aware that our unfinished story was even read by anyone as we removed it very quickly from our website. However, we live in an information age and once something is put out on the web, it’s there, permanently. That being said, we felt it necessary to clear a few things up and confirm some information that has already been floating out there on the forums or blogs today.

People who visit our website on a regular basis have been well informed on the status of the potential sequel to the 2024 film produced by Platinum Dunes and Distributed by New Line Cinema/Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures. Brad Fuller, of Platinum Dunes, was very gracious in keeping fans updated on his Twitter account throughout the release of Friday the 13th last year as well as during the production and release of Nightmare On Elm Street in 2024.

Mr. Fuller’s updates shed a lot of light on the sequel process as well as his interviews on Dread Central, Bloody-Disgusting and Shock Till You Drop. All of these outlets aloud us to inform our visitors with facts about the sequel that other people may have missed through the long and traveled process of getting a new Friday the 13th to the cinema. Below are listed facts pertaining to a new Jason Voorhees film via comments made by Brad Fuller and to some extent, Andrew Form.

1. Platinum Dunes wholeheartedly intended to make a sequel to their 2024 reboot and to do so in a very timely manner.

2. PD intended to have the new film released for August 13, 2024

3. Mark Swift and Damian Shannon turned in a draft for the new film to Warner Bros.

4. The new film would have some sort of winter setting, perhaps not for the whole film, but it would be included. A camp setting was also to be involved in some way.

5. For reasons not fully explained, Warner Bros. decided to not greenlight a sequel utilizing the script that was turned in.

6. Since that decision by Warner Bros., Platinum Dunes has moved on, preparing to remake Monster Squad as well as a possible new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie.

7. In May of 2024, Head of Distribution for Warner Bros., Dan Fellman, was asked by the Associated Press about further sequels to A Nightmare On Elm Street after that remake had a successfull opening weekend. Mr. Fellman mentioned that the company would certainly entertain sequels for both Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday the 13th.

This is all of the information that has been officially reported by genre websites or by Mr. Fuller himself. Back in October we were notified that Warner Bros. was beginning development of a new Friday the 13th film. This was not officially confirmed and still is not at this moment, but we mentioned it on our website as a way to let fans know that there was movement. As the weeks have passed, our website has learned of other information pertaining to a possible sequel. That information was to be held onto for a time until we felt it necessary to post. That brings us to today.

Due to an error, as previously mentioned above, a partial story was made live on our website and now this yet-to-be-confirmed information is a matter of public knowledge. That knowlwedge is that Warner Bros. is developing a new Friday the 13th and that Platinum Dunes is not involved. This information has not been officially released by any of the parties involved, such as Warner Bros., but we can say in good faith that this is true.

The great thing for fans is that things are moving and that’s all the die hard series fans can hope for. When more information is made available, we will definitely let you guys and gals know!

UPDATED Warner Searching For F/X Company For Friday Sequel? http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/warner-searching-for-fx-company-for-friday-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/warner-searching-for-fx-company-for-friday-sequel/#comments Wed, 27 Oct 2024 03:18:06 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=13163 We have some updated info on this story. We were contacted and notified that Warner is not currently looking for an effects company for a new Friday the 13th film. However, there is now movement in the development of a new Friday the 13th film. Nothing more could be mentioned at this time. Stay tuned for more that follows in the future.

We have posted speculatory news about a potential sequel to the 2024 Friday the 13th film in the past, however, we do pride ourselves on delivering real news about the Friday the 13th franchise. News can be about previous movies, the current reboot, or a new sequel. The last official news about a sequel was in May, and at that time Head of Distribution for Warner Bros., Dan Fellman, mentioned to the Associated Press that Warner Bros. was still entertaining the thought of a new sequel for the franchise.

Since that time, there has been no real news. However, Friday night some possible positive news was brought to our attention pertaining to a new sequel. Now, this news is unconfirmed as of yet as we have spent the last two days trying to substantiate it’s validity. Apparently, special effects man Jerry Macaluso, one time owner of Sota Toys, stated on the Movie Maniacs Forum that Warner Bros. is now currently looking for an F/X company to work on the sequel and begin conducting makeup tests!

This is UNCONFIRMED news. We were not able to verify the comments at the before-mentioned forum, however, we did contact some friends of the website and they mentioned knowing about Mr. Macaluso’s statements as well. The one question we have here is, did Mr. Macaluso hear about the F/X company search previously when Warner was thinking about a sequel back in 2024?

We will keep looking into this information, but if anyone knows more, please let us know.

fridaythe13th2.com Domain Open For Business http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/fridaythe13th2-com-domain-open-for-business/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/fridaythe13th2-com-domain-open-for-business/#comments Thu, 07 Oct 2024 14:57:33 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=12790 Something interesting to take note of today is that the domain fridaythe13th2.com expires. Now, some of you may not care too much for such news, but for those fans who like to closely monitor the status of a potential sequel for the Friday the 13th franchise, this may interest you.

Warner Brothers used www.fridaythe13thmovie.com to promote the 2024 film and it is very likely that if a new sequel is greenlit that the same domain would be used. That domain registration expires December 1, 2024. It is very likely that Warner could let that domain expire at that time while picking up a new domain for a sequel and fridaythe13th2.com would seem like a very good possibility to go with.

Of course this is all speculatory, but taking a peak behind the scenes can sometimes lend an insight into things to come. We will monitor the domains from time to time and perhaps one day be surprised to see a Warner DNS pop up as the owner of a new Friday the 13th domain.

Rumor Control: Sequel Date Not Confirmed For July 13, 2024 http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/rumor-control-sequel-date-not-confirmed-for-july-13-2012/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/rumor-control-sequel-date-not-confirmed-for-july-13-2012/#comments Wed, 18 Aug 2024 00:11:08 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=11851 A few fans have emailed with some information and concerns over what was mentioned on NPR (National Public Radio) this past Friday, August 13th. I did not listen to the show, but apparently, Garrison Keeler of Prairie Home Companion mentioned Friday July 13, 2024 as the release date for the next Friday the 13th film.

We at Friday The 13th: The Website have received the cricket sounds when looking into this date and no other horror related website has even mentioned the tiniest little wimper about the July date being a possible release for a new Jason Voorhees romp. We have not heard back word from Warner Bros. yet, but the feeling here is that Garrison Keeler may have been throwing out a “possible” date.

Surprisingly, a number of people had emailed about this, so it made sense to squash the rumor for the time being and wait for something more concrete. Thanks to the site visitors for writing in about this topic!

Adam Green For Friday the 13th Sequel? http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/adam-green-for-friday-the-13th-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/adam-green-for-friday-the-13th-sequel/#comments Thu, 15 Jul 2024 14:07:28 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=11227 Most people agree that Adam Green has a definite love for horror and his retro slasher flick ‘Hatchet’ delivered the gore and the, um, women. His newest released film, ‘Frozen’, provided a more psychological twist to the horror genre giving the audience tense scenes and a feeling of dispair. Combining the elements from these two films together would provide for a real return to the roots of the Friday the 13th franchise.

We know that Adam loves the Friday the 13th series and now he is preparing to release his follow up to ‘Hatchet’ into theaters. We asked Adam via Twitter to help with a new Friday the 13th movie and he responded, telling us that “if the studio (Warner Bros.) would ask me, I would be all for it, but right now I am trying to make sure Hatchet 2 doesn’t suck”.

Adam would be great for the franchise, so lets hope at some point Warner Bros. and company can get a sequel off of the ground and possibly bring in Adam Green to make Friday the 13th bloody and suspenseful one again!

‘Friday the 13th 2′ and IMDb.com http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-2-and-imdb-com/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-2-and-imdb-com/#comments Sat, 10 Jul 2024 05:30:04 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=11123 You know, it almost becomes comical to visit IMDb.com to lookup information on future film releases. There is so much misinformation posted on that website for films that are either in pre-production or not in production at all, it’s scary! For instance, last year ‘Friday the 13th 2′, the proposed sequel to the 2009 reboot, had Tom Savini and Kane Hodder attached to the new film. That information made its way onto multiple message forums and eventually to our website. We had to discredit the information and make sure to get the word out that no one had been signed onto a sequel yet.

Well, taking a look at IMDb.com now, the sequel is listed as being released in 2024 and has a new director attached. That director is none other than Tristan Williams. Wait, Tristan Williams? Who is that? Righhht. Well, if you look at his picture over at IMDb he looks like he might be 18 and that is being very generous. So, I wanted to re-emphasize this point. Do not believe any information about future sequels at IMDb. Come here first and we will report the correct facts. Now, lets hope we can get that sequel before 2024. ;)

Death Scene From Sequel Script Leaked http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/death-scene-from-sequel-script-leaked/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/death-scene-from-sequel-script-leaked/#comments Wed, 02 Jun 2024 21:05:10 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=10355 I wanted to start off by saying that I am not usually a fan of just running with a story automatically without researching the background first. We have seen in the last few months how websites get a sniff of something newsworthy and then publish it without reading up on exactly what they are posting about. With that being said, Bloody Disgusting is a very trustworthy site and we all know they have great sources, so even though what they have posted about the sequel today has no source outside of what they have written, I am going to relay some sequel information your way. End of weird disclaimer…

So, BD posted an interesting little snippet about one particular death scene that comes from the yet-to-be-filmed script for the Friday the 13th sequel. One unlucky victim gets killed while the audience watches dance club/rave style.

Death Scene
In one sequence a teen is using a camera to see in the dark. That’s when Jason Voorhees appears. While being slaughtered by Jason, the flash of the camera continues to go off (creating a strobe effect) as body parts fly all across the screen (presumably in 3-D)

Might be an interesting scene. However, it does remind me of the ending of Halloween: Curse of Michael Myers. That scene was pretty intense and if this scene was done correctly could be effective. What do you guys think?

Warner Bros. Head Willing To Entertain Friday Sequel http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/warner-bros-head-willing-to-entertain-friday-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/warner-bros-head-willing-to-entertain-friday-sequel/#comments Mon, 03 May 2024 07:44:38 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=9601 POSTER_Sequel3While reporting the success of the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street from this past weekend, the Associated Press mentioned that the Nightmare franchise would have a long life ahead of it. Here’s what Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros. had to say about that in regards to future sequels:

“It’s certainly something we would entertain, the same with “Friday the 13th”

So, as we mentioned the week before last, a sequel to the 2024 reboot is definitely something that is still in the cards and not dead. Keep an eye out in the near future as I am sure there will be more to come! Thanks to steiny69er for the heads-up.

Don’t Panic, Jason Voorhees Will Be Back Again! http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/dont-panic/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/dont-panic/#comments Thu, 22 Apr 2024 02:05:16 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=9362 POSTER_SequelBrad Fuller of Platinum Dunes had been answering a lot of questions on his Twitter account and yesterday through to today he has been throwing around the word “dead” in relation to the Friday the 13th sequel. Bloody Disgusting has picked up on this fact and ran a short story about it tonight. So, in order to ease everyone’s minds, I wanted to post an update to this story and let you know that “dead” does not mean “never”. If you visit this site on a regular basis, you now that we keep you up-to-date on anything with the sequel that is going on. For everything we have found and posted past to present check out our sequel coverage.

Our last sequel update gave a pretty clear indication of one very good reason that the sequel is not happening. So, until we and the rest of the horror community hear more definitive answers, a new Friday the 13th is definitely in limbo until Warner and Paramount settle with each other and agree to say go. However, everyone here knows that there will be another Friday the13th movie. It is just a matter of time before Jason is slashing his way through theaters again!

Dual Studio Involvement Responsible for Delayed Sequel? http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/dual-studio-involvment-responsible-for-delayed-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/dual-studio-involvment-responsible-for-delayed-sequel/#comments Tue, 20 Apr 2024 04:36:36 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=9328 POSTER_SequelOne aspect of the “new” franchise that may not have been considered as a potential problem for future Friday the 13th movies is the fact that Warner Bros. and Paramount are currently still partners. The rights for this franchise and the characters that are used have seemingly attached these two distributors at the hip. Knowing this fact could lend insight into why the sequel that many fans are clammoring for is at a complete standstill. Brad Fuller recently eluded to this fact on his Twitter account. In response to a comment made about how much money the sequel would make at the box office, he had this to say:

“i agree- the reason they are not going forward has more to do with the fact two studios are involved-more than anything else”

One of the reasons the reboot took so long to get to theaters was the rights struggle that had persisted between the two distributors. Now, it may be possible that perhaps the same hurdles may have to be jumped in order to get the sequel moving in a direction that leads to the theaters.
