Japanese Movie Chirashi Flyers

We have featured numerous Japanese posters for the franchise throughout the past year and every single one of them are great collectible items for fans of the series. Each features either unique artwork or styling of imagery from the respective movies. Another Japanese collectible is the Chirashi flyers that were used to promote the movies. These mini flyers are 18 cm x 26 cm in size and truly are “mini” size version of the posters. The unique thing about these Chirashis are the description and images from the movie on the back side. If you are interested in buying these awesome little pieces of the series, check out the sale. They are selling for only $6.95 a piece, which is a great deal!

Jason Lives Original B2 Japanese Poster

I never stop being amazed at how cool Japanese marketing is for the franchise. This poster is just about as cool as any I have seen released for the Japanese market, except maybe the A New Beginning poster. I am becoming more of a fan of Jason Lives every day as I find and collect more interesting items from that movie and this poster is absolutely no different.

A New Beginning Japanese Lobby Cards

I have been meaning to post these up here for a while and keep getting preoccupied, so here they are. They are really great cards and are much different than the Mexican lobby cards that I own. I have to say thanks to daizab for using these images.

Part 3 Japanese Laserdisc Cover and Insert

I have posted about the Japanese Laserdiscs before, so I thought that for those of you that have not seen close up pics of the movies, I would showcase the Part 3 laserdisc.

Check out the pic to the right with Chris wearing a winter jacket. She never wore one in the movie. She wore a windbreaker jacket in later scenes in the movie.

A poor quality image of the front of the insert that is included with the movie. Basically, Japanese laserdiscs include inserts much like DVD’s include inserts.

This is the back of the insert. I like that this insert displays a lot of photos from the movie. There are inserts from later releases in the franchise that show little to no images from their respective movies.

Full View of Japanese “His Name Was Jason” Release

Our friend daizab received his copy of His Name Was Jason and shared with me some pics and information about the package and extra features. This release is missing three features the US release included: “Freddy vs Jason in 30 seconds with bunnies”, “Jason takes COMIC-CON”, and “Shelly lives”. What this release lacks in features it gains in packaging and a special treat, a T-shirt! The shirt that is included is a size M. Which, according to daizab, is smaller than size M in the US

Check out all of the pics below. I would love to get this just for the packaging alone. I am sure some collectors already have themselves a copy of this. Thanks to daizab for sending this in.

Japanese Friday the 13th trailers, Oh My!

In continuing the tradition of my love for Japanese Friday the 13th items, I found the Japanese trailers for Part2, 3, and 4 on Youtube. They were uploaded by Lammert, who use to run http://www.jasonconquers.com one of the oldest Friday the 13th websites on the web. As for the trailers, there are no new scenes that are shown, but one thing I noticed was the amount of gore and/or deaths that are shown. In the U.S. some of these shots would never have made it into any sort of trailer, theatrical or home video. Enjoy!

His Name Was Jason Japanese Release

On Septemeber 16th, His Name Was Jason will be released in Japan. There are two versions that are being sold. One version is the normal version which looks to contain the same content that was released in the United States. The other version is the Memorial Version and it comes with an original design T-Shirt. I believe the content is also the same on this DVD as the United States version. Check out the covers below for the different versions.

Camp Crystal Lake in Japan?

I missed this news back in February. Apparently, in the weeks leading up to the release of Friday the 13th, a lake located in Japan was renamed to Crystal Lake as a promotional event for the film’s release. Yamanaka Lake, which is adjacent to Mt. Fuji was chosen as the lake for which to have the honor of being called Crystal Lake. The New Blood Japanese Lobby Cards

Lobby Cards for the Friday films have different incarnations between the different countries that produce them. That’s why I like to collect lobby cards from different counties as you get to see different images or angles of images that you may not have seen in either US lobby cards or magazines.

As some may have noticed, I have quite the affinity for Japanese Friday the 13th merchandise. Their artwork and layouts for the VHS, Laserdisc and DVD releases of the franchise are unique and inspirational. Japanese posters are also very well conceived. While browsing such items I came across the lobby cards for The New Blood. I think these look great and find Jason in some poses that you don’t get to see him in very often. Special thanks go out to daizab for sending me info on all things Friday the 13th from Japan.
