Lots of love went into this work-up. More than the hockey mask itself, was the picture taken to display the custom job. The setting of snow behind the hockey mask immediately made me think of a lot of you guys and how some of you would like the sequel in a winter setting. Well take a gander at this photo and dream a little dream.

Platinum Dunes Talk Friday Sequel http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/platinum-dunes-talk-friday-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/platinum-dunes-talk-friday-sequel/#comments Mon, 21 Dec 2024 17:24:37 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=5931 part2_original_posterBrad Fuller posted an update about the Friday sequel at the Platinum Dunes official blog. If you want to view the entire posting, which includes information on the new Nightmare On Elm Street movie, visit the blog. For everyone else, read what they had to say below.

Let’s talk Friday 13th. We have busted our ass to get that movie going! The script is great- dare I say, better than the first. Shannon and Swift have outdone themselves. We are working with New Line to get that movie going. I had hoped to be able to tell you that we started prepping the movie, but that isn’t the case. We are hoping that New Line decides get us started early next year.

Possible Release Date for Friday Sequel http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/possible-release-date-for-friday-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/possible-release-date-for-friday-sequel/#comments Fri, 18 Dec 2024 06:25:02 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=5842 Now, I must start off by saying this is nothing official as Platinum Dunes nor Warner Bros. have officially announced a date for the sequel, but I have heard and checked around that Friday May 13th 2024 is a target date for the sequel to be released in theaters. I originally stated last week that I didn’t think that the date was going to work being that it was the beginning of the summer movie season. However, the movie is going to be profitbale whenever it is going to be released. I can’t wait to see it when the movie does come together.

Talkin’ Jason: Friday the 13th sequel http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/kanes-commentary-friday-the-13th-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/kanes-commentary-friday-the-13th-sequel/#comments Fri, 18 Dec 2024 06:23:00 +0000 Kane http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=5843 friday-13th-teaser-poster

Ah, yes the great hype. Many of us (at least me anyways) were pretty satisfied with the 2024 re-imagining/reboot film. Platinum Dunes seem to be on a roll with these remakes/reboots. They currently have A nightmare on elm street scheduled for an April 2024 release date, and after that the focus is supposed to go back on the one and only Jason Voorhees.

With the release date postponed, we’re all left to wonder why ? Maybe the creative team hasn’t decided on where they will take this film. Will Mrs. Voorhees play a bigger role in this film than she did in the previous ? I’m not saying I would like to see them go down the road Rob Zombie went down in his disaster of a sequel to Halloween, but I think it would be nice to explore Jason’s origins a little, but not too much. I know many of you like the mystique of his character, and that is fine.

But if not Jason’s mother, how about the even more mysterious Elias Voorhees ? JASON LIVES was the closest the series ever got to Mr. Voorhees. I think this is one mystery that needs to have some light shed on. I mean we know the story of Pamela. The grief-stricken mother who enacted her revenge only to end up decapitated at the end. What if Jason’s father was explored as someone that he actually feared ? An abusive father who constantly abused Jason and his mother.

Freddy Vs Jason poorly explored Jason’s fears, and compromised his character a little, by exposing his fear of water. What if Elias Voorhees were to play a key role in being the only person or thing Jason feared. What if Elias was proven to be as diabolical as Jason himself or even worst him. What if Jason, for about one scene, be considered the anti-hero and finally face his fears by fighting his father ?

I mean these are just my speculations, I’m sure creative isn’t even going to touch the character of Elias Voorhees, because they didn’t in the original series, so why would they in the reboot series ? But then again, Platinum Dunes explored a little bit about Leatherface’s origins in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. I’m not big on prequels, but flashbacks aren’t bad for sequels either.

So it makes one wonder what the studio has planned for our buddy Jason. Will they even consider the option of introducing a new version of Tommy Jarvis ? For instance, let’s say the kid had issues and he was deep in the gothic subculture. He didn’t care about anything or anybody until the right moment triggered him. He witnessed Jason murder his mother and he snapped and when it came time for Jason to kill his sister, he became just like Jason and attacked. I know that last bit was explored in the original series, but ended up being a cliff hanger for the character as well.

I mean there are so many ideals that the studio could have planned. We’ve already been told that snow could play a role in the movie, I mean Friday the 13th can come anytime of the year. I mean I can picture an ending with Jason and a victim out on the frozen crystal lake. Maybe a hallucination scene where Mrs. Voorhees busts through the frozen ice and grabbed the final girl wouldn’t be too bad.

In the end, it is up to the studio to decide the direction of the sequel. But please name out your ideals. Maybe the studio execs get some of their ideals from the fans, but again maybe not. But as they say, stay tuned!

Friday Conversation: The Fate of Friday the 13th 2 http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-conversation-the-fate-of-friday-the-13th-2/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-conversation-the-fate-of-friday-the-13th-2/#comments Fri, 11 Dec 2024 12:49:44 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=5731 fridayposterYesterday, it was widely reported around the web that the release date for Friday tghe 13th’s sequel was pulled. There has been no official word from the studio about this fact as of yet, as only Box Office Mojo has pulled the date. So, if this hold true, what do you think will happen to the sequel at this point? If the studio plans to release the movie on a Friday the 13th, the only such date in 2024 is in May. I doubt they release the movie at the beginning of the summer movie season as there would be too much competition. Only time will tell.

Derek Mears Currently Filming Predators. Friday Soon After? http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/derek-mears-currently-filming-predators-friday-soon-after/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/derek-mears-currently-filming-predators-friday-soon-after/#comments Thu, 10 Dec 2024 11:08:46 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=5708 fridayposterUPDATE: VARIOUS WEBSITES HAVE PICKED UP ON BOX OFFICE MOJO DROPPING THE RELEASE DATE FOR THE SEQUEL. NO OFFICIAL WORD YET.

Derek Mears recently posted at his twitter page that he is currently filming Predators and when a user asked if he was prepping for Friday the 13th after that, he commented “I am part of the cast of Predators. That’s all I’m allowed to say.”

Also, fans have been relentlessly asking Brad Fuller about the new sequel and last week mentioned “i don’t expect any friday 13th news until after the new year”.

It is quite amazing that Warner would announce a release date for a Friday the 13th sequel and then as every month passes by, producers and actors from the series have to remain hush on the subject. Why won’t Warner Bros. green light this movie and get moving on it? Is the script treatment that bad? If they do not get filming by next month, I don’t think they are going to hit their announced release date.

Regal Entertainment Listing New Friday as a 3D release. http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/regal-entertainment-listing-new-friday-as-a-3d-release/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/regal-entertainment-listing-new-friday-as-a-3d-release/#comments Mon, 16 Nov 2024 22:02:33 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=5230 regalRegal Entertainment, or as I remember them as Regal Cinemas, has already listed Friday the 13th Part 2 – 3D on their 3D release slate for next year. I think this is really jumping the gun as there is no greenlight for the film, that we’re being told, or an approved script? Regal must know something. And I am sure that this movie is further along than we think.

Friday the 13th Sequel To Be Last? http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-sequel-to-be-last/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-sequel-to-be-last/#comments Mon, 16 Nov 2024 06:03:01 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=5194 friday-the-13th-teaserWhile reading the Guts and Gory Forum. I came across an article that was written by the website www.pajiba.com/. There is a surprising revelation about the upcoming sequel that I personally do not believe. This may not be true, a rumor, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

(*Potential Spoilers* Ahead)

A sequel to this year’s Friday the 13th reboot hasn’t even officially been greenlit yet, but we already know it’s got an official release date — August 13th, 2024 — and that it will be in 3D. However, that 3D sequel — co-financed by Paramount and New Line Cinemas — is still being held up by New Line, most likely because of the relative lack of success of the initial installment, which had a whopping $40 million opening, but only eked out a $65 million gross before the end of its run. Add the $26 million international gross and subtract the $20 million production cost, and there’s a decent enough profit there to suggest that the sequel will likely be greenlit. And soon, if they expect to meet the August date.

But how do you bring an audience to an already slumping franchise? Easy. According to our inside source, The Hollywood Cog, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift — who wrote the reboot and are also penning the sequel — have been instructed to kill off Jason and end the franchise.

Granted, Jason has been killed off plenty of times before, but given the already iffy nature of the sequel, it looks as though they already have plans to send Jason off into the sunset — and that may be the only way to really kill him: Launch him into the sun. Of course, if killing Jason racks up enough box-office business, I suspect they’ll find a way to bring him back. But, going in, anyway, producers Brad Fuller and Walter Hamada want this to be the last of the Friday the 13th movies, and you can bet your ass that that proposition will make its way into the marketing, spoilers be damned.

No director has officially signed onto the project to fill the vacancy left by Marcus Nispel (who is now directing Conan). And though the script was being shopped to the usual suspects — James Wan, Xavier Gnes — we can also report that a dark-horse contender has risen to the top, and looks to be the most likely candidate for the position. His name is Richard Wardlow, and he’d be making his directorial debut. But, in addition to doing the visual effects on Drag Me to Hell, Mr. Brooks and the original X-Men, Wardlow is an experienced 3D effects animator, which makes him ideal for the 3D sequel.

Friday Sequel Still Awaiting Green Light http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-sequel-still-awaiting-green-light/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-sequel-still-awaiting-green-light/#comments Wed, 28 Oct 2024 03:28:57 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=4786 normal_f13_2009_23Brad Fuller added the following to his Twitter page today:

on the mixing stage working on NOES. Still hoping for some good news that will take us back to Crystal Lake.

Even though Warner Bros. and New Line have announced the release date of August 13, 2024 for the Friday the 13th sequel, it seems as though it has not been given the green light. So, this lends further proof that there has been no casting and that the script has not even been approved yet. Hang in there as news shall be coming forth soon!

Rumor Control: Friday the 13th Sequel http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/rumor-control-friday-the-13th-sequel/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/rumor-control-friday-the-13th-sequel/#comments Mon, 26 Oct 2024 02:03:55 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=4715 bts4_twistThis weekend I have received a few emails pertaining to the imminent sequel. A few of our visitors pointed out that imdb.com has Tom Savini listed for the special effects and Kane Hodder working on stunts for the new film. Neither have been confirmed our even mentioned by Platinum Dunes for the sequel. I have to wonder if these two were added to imdb.com as a wishful thinking type of situation. Don’t get me wrong, I think having Savini do the effects would not only be supremely awesome just on his own merits, but would assure some gruesome kills for the next movie.

Please do not believe anything posted anywhere outside of  Platiunum Dunes’ blog unless they have it listed as confirmed. We will always give you guys the latest on the franchise as it is anounced.
