Depends on how CG it is!

Dusk, you are spot on. Rob Bottin's make-up effects in the original will never be bettered in my opinion. From what can be gleaned from the trailer to the prequel it's going to be another CGI yawnfest. I'll watch it but I have no real enthusiasm for it.

Just because there's room for a backstory doesn't mean there's a need for one. I for one prefer to have a little mystery rather than having everything explained to me.

i get your point...its not something that id tell the studio, hey get a thing prequel made, but ill still watch it regardless, id rather watch a thing prequel, over a friday the 13th prequel, anyday.

The thing (John Carpenter's Version) Is by far one of the scariest movies i've seen, those morphing scenes, with the dog, is just freaky as hell!! one of my favorite movies ever!

Martin-horror, I hate to keep giving ya a hard time buddy, you say no to a prequel of the thing, but a prequel to friday the 13th is a good idea?? ... friday the 13th's story was set with the original, no prequel is required for F13th. The thing, is a great movie, and there is room for a back story to it...thats my opinion.. ;)

I'm a fan of The Thing and I'll be looking forward to a prequel. Would be great if they got John Carpenter to direct!

The prequel is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. I think it's his first movie.
