At risk of being "the odd man out"- I hated the reboot. I guess the fundimental reason for me is that, I grew up with the originals coming out every yr on vhs. Allthough, some were not as good as others.. I"m thinking 5,7 and 8. With these films, you grew to have a certain "expectation" - you knew the drill, you knew a certain "formula" that the film would remain faithful to.

Maybe I'm getting old/er and a bit cynical- but I liked my movies- just the way they were- a time capsual from an era when slasher films looked up to the friday franchise as their own benchmark. I also understand the reboot is paying homage to the 1st 4 parts.. I thought the direction change.. eg hillbilly jason and his tunnells.. was way off..(see above comment bout getting old and whinging)- for me a big departure from the storylines of old. Perhaps the writers went down the path of part 3..and wanted to humanise jason more.. I understand that.. I just did'nt like it.

I also fully understand the writers bringing jason, to a new crowd- a new generation, i just think they could have delved into the history a bit more.Ok guys enough of me pissing and moaning.. just putting my 2 cents worth in..

I believe the reboot is way better than more than half of the films. My fave is 6. Next is 4. After that, its up in the air. Part 3 was the first one I ever saw so it has a special place in my heart.

Reboot rocked. Mears rules. If they don't use him for a future movie, that would be a huge mistake. Whoever at Platinum Dunes ok'd him, did a great job.

I don't think it was, no, cause its too much like normal type off ending to it. I mean, if Jason was strung up somewhere, and she had his machete just staring at him, then yes that would be a dream.

If only it was that easy... oh wait, it is! I know this isn't the 80s, but the originals were made that way, and they have definately lived on. I don't know why New Line seemed to lose interest in horror. Normally, when a movie does a killing in the box office, like Freddy Vs. Jason, you'd follow up with a sequel, right?

Last year Platinum Dunes said they were done with horror, then last month one of the producers from Platinum Dunes (Brad Fuller I believe) tweeted that he was meeting with WB and hinted that they were still interested in doing their Friday the 13th sequel so PD isn't actually done with horror, just for now they have no horror projects (unless you count the Monster Squad remake).
WB/New Line could make a new Friday the 13th film in-house.
In fact I'm not sure why they don't. WB/NL had to split profits with Paramount (a necessity since Paramount owned the remake rights and took New Line to court over it) and probably had to give Platinum Dunes a percentage as well.
Eliminate all of the other studios when making a sequel, produce it themselves on a super low budget and keep all of the profits themselves.

Platinum Dunes is done with horror in general now, after Nightmare was a failure in their eyes.

So it will probably be a long time until a sequel is made, until another company wants to pick it up again. Still, Friday the 13th was better off, since a sequel was already planned, but then suddenly dropped. To me, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel/reboot will be a good indicator to what direction classic horror will go. I'm still hoping for Freddy Vs. Jason Part II...

I know that this film was filmed in Austin tx, Bastrop tx, and La Grange tx. But i was wondering being from La Grange Tx, what parts of the movie were filmed here because finding this information on the web is inconclusive.

I am just curious and hope someone can enlighten me on the subject

From all accounts there is no sequel to the Nightmare on Elm Street remake planned as New Line/WB was really displeased with what Platinum Dunes delivered.
Unless they scripted and filmed in absolute secrecy, there's no way an Elm Street sequel is being released or even being worked on within the next 2 years.
The Friday the 13th sequel is the only thing that Platinum Dunes is holding out hope on related to those properties.
Fuller has said his most recent talks with New Line/WB has indicated Nightmare on Elm Street is effectively dead for the time being.
WB doesn't seem to be comfortable with greenlighting a Friday the 13th sequel either, despite PD having commissioned the sequel script after opening weekend and having been ready to go for over a year.

I didn't really like either but I would say that the Friday The 13th remake was better. There is a sequel to Elm Street being released either this or next year, a script has been finished for a Friday sequel but nobody knows what's going to happen with it.
