Post Re: Perhaps the Most Underrated in the Franchise
I like this installment too and I think people are beginning to realize how grossly underrated it really is.

12. FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009)
11. FREDDY VS. JASON
10. JASON X
09. JASON GOES TO HELL: THE FINAL FRIDAY
08. PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN
07. PART 2
06. PART V: A NEW BEGINNING
05. PART 3
04. FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980)
03. PART VI: JASON LIVES
02. PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD
01. THE FINAL CHAPTER

Many of you are going to disagree with me and say FREDDY VS. JASON and the remake are good. That's okay as long you understand that you're wrong. I already know that no one's going to defend JASON X.

Freddy VS Jason and the remake were just OK to me. I didn't think they were that great and I thought they could have done so much more.

That's what I think too. I don't hate them but I can't really say I like them either. They took practically everything that was fun about the franchise up until that point and changed it. I don't like this current generation of horror films anyways.

Horror today is too over the top I think. I miss the 80s horror.

With the Remake I just wish it had more of a camp feel to it.

I agree Brad. Todays horror is way over the top. The Saw series is a perfect example of it. I hate those movies past the first installment. It seemed old horror made the killer/killers into superheros.

Thats what made the 80s horror great, when you saw the killer you were like ok this person has no chance but then there is alway one person mostly female who rises up and prevails to stop the killer. Today its see how much gore you can make and then figure out a storyline later. I cant think of too many good horror films from this past decade that were that great.

Check out the movie "Malevolence" man. Its a newer film that does a good job of this. I think when you see it you'll even notice how much the killer acts like a younger version of a certain slasher we all know well. I found the movie by accident and I must say I loved it.

Once the filmmakers try to make Jason into the hero, it starts to lose its effect. I understand that there's a lot of sympathy involved with his character from what was established in the first movie, but he's still a killing brute, nonetheless. Of course, the audience seeing Jason as the "hero" is completely different.
