Screenwriter Dean Lorey Mentions fridaythe13thfilms.com

Posted 25 Jun 2026 in The Saga

Now, I know that this is extremely old news for some people, but I admit that I forgot about this fact over the last couple of years. On the DVD release of Jason Goes To Hell, screenwriter Dean Lorey and director Adam Marcus are talking about the film on the commentary track when the discussion of the Book of the Dead was brought to the forefront. Dean Lorey then mentions that he visited our great website and posted on the now defunt message forum about the book and its ties to the Voorhees family. Dean then pays kudos to Blake and our website.

Now, I mention this, because one, it’s just freakin’ cool and two it is a great testament to what Blake and Brenna created and maintained here for many years. The fact that screenwriters for both Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X frequented this website and the forum is tremendously satisfying for someone like me that use to be just a visitor to the website as well as someone that now helps run the website.. Dusk and I hope to keep that same spirit alive which is why are working hard to make this place the most interactive and informative Friday the 13th website on the World Wide Web.

We now have the Fridaypedia and sometime in the future the forum will hopefully be reborn again. It would be great to be mentioned by creators of previous Friday the 13th films once again as we help usher the franchise into future generations of fans!

Friday Conversation: Naming The Sequel

Posted 25 Jun 2026 in New Fridays

If there is one lesson learned from Rob Zombie’s Halloween movies, it’s that you should not name your sequel the same as the original series sequel. For instance, when having a conversation with someone about Zombie’s Halloween 2, the inevitable situation will occur and the question will be asked, “are you talking about Halloween 2 from the 80′s or the new Halloween 2″. It’s hard enough to keep track of 12 films in the series now, but can you imagine having two keep track of two movies titled Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part 2? It would make for an even more confusing conversation when trying to explain events within the franchise to a novice.

Perhaps it really makes no difference, but do you think that the next movie in the franchise should be simply named Part 2, or do you think a subtitle should be added to Friday the 13th? The likes of “The Final Chapter” and “Jason Lives” make it easy to reference a film in the series. If you prefer a subtitle, what would you choose for the newest film in the franchise?

We have featured many of Wickedbeard’s and SirBrad’s custom Jason costumes in the past and they have always put great detail into their work. Since we believe in showing off great custom costumes, today visitors will be able to check out Creeping Death Productions’ custom made costume from “The New Blood”.

There has been a lot of time and energy expended to create this one of a kind and unique rendition of Jason Voorhees. Pay particular attention to the detail of the mask/hood of the costume. Teen Duo Hunt Pseudo Jason In New Comic

Posted 23 Jun 2026 in The Saga

The comic realm has been a frenzied breeding ground for unique ideas in all genres of storytelling. I have found many unique ideas that have become comic books series, such as Sherlock Holmes versus the zombie apocalypse. We even featured a short one page comic storyline two weeks ago, created for fun by some very talented artists. Now, one of our visitors, Christopher Highland, has pointed us to a new comic series that will have a loosely based story on the Friday the 13th, called “WELCOME TO CAMP KILL-A-WAY”.

Read the official explanantion of the comic series from the creator below:

“SICK OF THE LIVING DEAD! (SOTLD!)” – is a slasher/horror comic (kind of like HACK/SLASH) about two teens who hunt down the creatures that go bump in the night and exterminate them with extreme prejudice.

The first short story is called “WELCOME TO CAMP KILL-A-WAY”. A parody of FRIDAY THE 13TH (my favorite horror movie) vs Danielle & Grin. Since I can not use JASON I created JOSH (Any F13 fans here know where I got Josh from?) who is a slasher at the camp.

The idea sounds cool, but they are really skating close to the line of copyright infringement if you ask me. I have no problem with what they are doing, but I hope they do not run into any problems down the line. Check out the companies website, www.fyicomics.com, to see more of their work. In the mean time, look at the the awesome cover of the in-progress comic and the truly phenomenal artwork being created for inside the cover.

Friday the 13th Director Moves From Jason To Conan

Posted 23 Jun 2026 in The Saga

As Jason had laid dormant for 6 years after Freddy vs Jason, fans clamored for their favorite anti-heroe to rise from the grave once again to wreak havoc on those crazy, horny teenagers. When news broke in early 2026 that Jason was on his way back to cinemas, many wanted to know who was writing and directing the comeback of Mr. Voorhees. Platinum Dunes, after a few rumored directors were mentioned, announced Marcus Nispel as the man to lead the way back to Crystal Lake. Fans knew his work from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and were interested to see the direction he could take the franchise.

Now, Nispel is ready to resurrect another unstoppable force of nature. The Friday the 13th director is currently in production of the rebirth of Conan the Barbarian! The new Conan movie stars Jason Momoa as Conan the Barbarian and looks to once again tell the story of the King of Kings made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1982 classic.

The new Conan the Barbarian film also stars Ron Perlman, Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan, Raw Leiba and Saïd Taghmaoui. The movie adaption is set to be released some time in 2026.

A Tale Of Two Shrines. Past To Present Mummy

Posted 22 Jun 2026 in The Saga

Leading up to the release of the new Friday the 13th in 2026, a lot of fans were already beginning to draw comparisons between what they had seen in trailers and in print and how they correlated to the films in the 1980′s. Questions were swirling around about what elements of the original movies would be depicted in the new film and how would those elements stand up to what had been established so many years ago. For alot of the fans, there were going to be a few main points that were of great interest.

Were the writers and director going to show what happened to Mrs. Voorhees, at what point in the film was that scene going to happen, and would the sequence play out similar to the original 1980 film’s ending. Those questions were answered almost immediately in the beginning of the new film, but another major question still loomed. When in the film would Mrs. Voorhees’s shrine be found and how would the shrine to his mother be depicted. Since the climactic discovery of the shrine of Mrs. Voorhees in Part 2 was so instrumental in discovering the driving force of Jason Voorhees, many people were curious to see if the effect of discovering the mummified head of Jason’s mother in the new 2026 film would hold the same effect with today’s audience. Sadly, the film failed to capture any of the magic that the original discovery brought forth in 1981′s Friday the 13th Part 2.

In the 1981 film version, an actual shrine display was created by Jason to memoralize his mother in a respectful manner in her own room. The shrine was completed in the middle of the room with a table and decorative bodies. However, in the 2026 film, Jason shoved his mother’s head into a hole in the wall of the bathroom? Not quite the respectful showing of a son who is mourning the loss of his mother. The whole scene of Whitney and her boyfriend finding the deceased Mrs. Voorhees’ head seemed like it was written into the story quickly to insert another quick homage into the modern retelling of Jason Voorhees. It felt rushed and did not lend anything extra to the Jason character except for a cheap scare, which marginally worked at the first viewing.

It really is too bad that poor, mummified Mrs. Voorhees could not have been memorialized in a better light. At least she can be assured to be only inches away from a nice bath in a tub full of dirty water and disease.

Summer Of Contests Part 2: The Hockey Mask

Posted 22 Jun 2026 in Merchandise

CONTEST HAS ENDED

We are now moving to Part 2 of our 30th Anniversary Summer Of Contests. We at fridaythe13thfilms.com are committed to giving away great prizes to our loyal visitors of the website. As mentioned in previous weeks, this is just the second of many contests that we will be running throughout the summer. So, with that in mind, lets get into the next contest.

Today, everyone has the opportunity to win a NECA replica hockey mask from the film, Freddy vs Jason. Although the packaging does not say Freddy vs Jason on it, people in the mask hobby will tell you immediately it is from the film that Freddy built. That, plus the fact that Toys R’ Us has it in their system as a Freddy vs Jason mask. Go figure!

So would you like to win this awesome replica hockey mask? Then lets get into the rules of the contest and what will need to be done to win this iconic part of the franchise.

What You Need To Do
1.
Think about which hockey mask in the franchise is your favorite. It doesn’t matter which movie it is from. Then type a short paragraph describing why you like that version of the hockey mask. The reasoning can be because you like it’s shape, color, damage, historical signifigance in the franchise or whatever your heart desires.

2. Next, answer a few questions about Friday the 13th (1980):

a. After Mrs. Voorhees is decapitated near the end of the film, who’s hands are used as stand-ins for Mrs. Voorhees when she is clutching at the air as her body falls to the ground?

b. What does Ned say is in the meat that is being prepared for the counselor’s lunch, right before a trio of the group goes to check the emergency generator?

3. After you prepare your email entry containing the description of your favorite hockey mask and your answers to the above questions, add your physical mailing address in the email and send your entry to [email protected]. Make sure to include “Hockey Mask Contest” in the subject line of the email.

Entries received will be pulled at random to determine the wonner. The contest will run through and end on Sunday July 4th. So everyone has time to pull together your answers. Winners will be announced the week of July 5th. Good Luck to everyone and remember to have fun!
