BTS Wednesday: Jason’s Sewer Remains

Every single person I have ever talked to about the ending of Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan universally agrees that it is the worst ending they have ever seen in the franchise. Rob Hedden’s intentions for the ending were at the very least, understandable, however, the execution and overall idea were not very good. The idea that the evil would be removed from Jason by toxic waste and thus leave behind the little boy he once was, just did not fit the mythos at all.

Originally, the end sequence of Jason Takes Manhattan was to showcase a very gooey and eaten away corpse of Jason after being bombarded by toxic waste. The idea of adding the little boy’s body to the sequence was added later. Below are BTS (Behind The Scenes) images of the crew and Jason’s corpse that was supposed to be in the film. Now this would have been awesome to see as Jason’s final appearance!

BTS Wednesday: Officer Thornton And Jason’s Dart

Today’s BTS (Behind The Scenes) Wednesday features makeup being applied to stuntman/actor Mike Nomad before filming his character Officer Thornton’s death scene.

Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part 6 offered many memorable and exciting kills to add to the growing list in the franchise’s history. One such kill that always garners many cheers from the audience is when Officer Thornton is searching the docks at Camp Forest Green. While he searches the docks, Jason appears from the forest and throws one of his darts, removed from the his “borrowed” utility belt, and hits the Officer square in the forhead.

The photos below show Mr. Nomad during his makeup application. He looks to be having a lot of fun with the whole process as he helped create a very memorable scene in the film series. Who wouldn’t want to get set up to die by the hands of Mr. Voorhees?!

BTS Wednesday: Deputy Winslow Gets The Hammer

Today, BTS Wednesday (Behind The Scenes Wednesday) visits a classic scene from Friday the 13th Part 2.

When Jason darted across the road in front of Deputy Winslow’s police squad in Friday the 13th Part 2, fans were treated to a glimpse of the Voorhees madness. The Deputy would literally run into Jason’s shack while chasing him in the woods and find his shrine to mother. Of course, there is a price to pay for entering Jason’s domain and that price was Winslow’s life.

Deputy Winslow really has the hammer laid on him and into him! A very stealth Jason sneaks up behing the unsuspecting policeman and serves his brand of justice. In the photos below, Jack Marks (Deputy Winslow) has the hammer prop and blood applied to his head and fans also get a backside view of the hammer neatly inserted into the back of the head of Crystal Lake’s finest!

Behind The Scenes Wednesday: Junior’s Head

We are going to start a new weekly blog highlighting behind the scenes photos from all of the films in the franchise. There will be no uniformed pattern or theme, but rather a more random approach to the images that are displayed. It is absolutely possible that images we feature in this weekly blog will have been seen already by the many fans that visit our website. If that is the case, still feel free to comment on the images and let us know your thoughts on what may be your favorite scene.

This week we thought we would showcase Junior’s head from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Yes, we know Junior “ain’t so pretty myself, I know.” However, his edited death scene is still a hilarious and pretty entertaining part of the film to watch.
