Why didn't they ever make a novel for TFC? That would have been one of the best. I know they've most likely did one for the original. I know they did ones for 2, 3, & 6 but that's it. What happened?

As screenwriter Barney Cohen was an author originally anyway they should have got him to write it.

Has anyone read the first 3? How are they compared to the movies?

I've read the novels for parts 1 and 2 and they follow the stories from the films for the most part, but what's interesting is that they add more to the characters backstories.

That's the good thing about novels, you can add backstories and motives and subplots. With a slasher script you're quite restricted and stuck in a specific formula, but with a novel as long as you include the basics you're free to explore character and plot more.

I was interested in these but I am worried that I wont read anything different then what I know from the movies.

I too am interested in reading these. I heard about how they add to how Jason feels when he kills, among other things. I am getting the Jason Lives novel in the mail in a few days. Then I'm buying part 2 and 3. I don't really know why I'm getting them in that order, I just am haha. It's gonna cost A LOT of money!
