Biography: "Shavar Ross was born in the South Bronx, New York. In Hollywood, Shavar's father took him to a play in which a young Kim Fields starred in. After the play, Shavar was immediately noticed by a Hollywood talent agent. She told Shavar's father that he should seriously consider doing commercials and becoming an actor. Evelyn gave him her business card and Shavar literally became an overnight sensation.
In early 1980, Shavar was cast out of more that 250 children to play Gary Coleman's best friend on the hit NBC show Diff'rent Strokes in which he eventually shot over 40 episodes. Through the years Shavar has starred in over 100 episodes on various television programs and has appeared in over 40 commercials. He's starred in many film and television shows such as Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Family Matters. Producers had originally wanted him in the role that Leonardo Di Caprio ended up playing on Growing Pains.
After the death of his father, Shavar became a born-again Christian at the age of 20 years old. Shavar attended bible college at The Ministry Training Institute, an auxiliary of Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles.
