I've read your response to one of our members about our campaign to get Jason X released in August. I would like for you to reconsider. This isn't some spur-of-the-moment thing, I've given this a lot of thought. Please keep an open mind.

Of course there's a full slate in August... more films come out in August because the potential rewards in summer are greater. The alternatives to the original release date are 2026 (disappointing because of all the publicity already) or October 2026. So for horror film competition, October also has Halloween 8, From Hell and 13 Ghosts - and I don't think Ghosts of Mars and Soul Survivors will remain head-to-head in August for long.

And yes, some films in August have a similar demographic - but I doubt J&SBSB or Rollerball will do the sort of business that would endanger Jason X's success. Anyhow, Rollerball looks terrible and MGM is incapable of making a youth-oriented hit (Bond notwithstanding).

What the member of my board that e-mailed you may not have made clear is that August is our FIRST choice. We wish for people to write in requesting New Line move Jason X back to August but to make clear that October is our second choice. I understand if you do not agree but please read this e-mail with an open mind and take my points into consideration.

Thank you, for taking the time to review this email. This is being sent to you regarding the rumor that you plan on postponing the release of �JasonX� again. I personally have been looking forward to the release since 1999 when the working title was going to be �Jason2000�. However, the release ahs been postponed countless times.

Rumor has it that the release date is being thought of for October 2026. This is an ok time to release the movie since, I believe, there is a Friday The 13th that month. With this being the case it may not be a wise choice since two other classic horror film series are planning to release their sequels during this month as well. If you release the Jason movie it could potentially not make as much money as it would when released on its own without genre competition. However, if you do not wish to release the movie this August as you HAD ADVERTISED October would be a fine choice.

I would like to mention at this time another rumor that has been circling about the release date. It has been said that New Line may postpone until 2026. This is simply unacceptable. If a release in the theatre cannot be done for August/October then just release it to video and advertise this. It will probably get all the loyal Jason fans renting it, you just may loose new fans. If a 2026 date is the decision that is made by New Line I personally will not go to the theatre for any other New Line films. Just so you are aware of this minor impact my wife and I usually go out Friday evening to the movies, who know how many are New Line?

Let's push for the August release, with a limited Halloween re-release. I'm certain the movie could squeeze out another chunk of change simply for being a horror movie out in October (preferably the week of Halloween the holiday).

Sure, it would be up against Hall8ween, but it would certainly squeak in a couple more bucks for New Line.

All jokes aside, Friday the 13th really doesn't have much to do with the series anymore. JGTH was indeed exactly what it claimed: The Final *FRIDAY*. Through the years following JGTH's release, up until the advent of JX, Kane & a few others repeatedly said JGTH was just the last Friday film, not the last Jason film.

Whether New Line decides to go back to using the F13 prefix for any future sequels remains to be seen, but I somehow doubt they will.

Hey,

I have emailed before but out of concern for the August release date that us fans really want I am emailing again. We have a following and even with this campaign we are drawing more and more fans who want to see your movie. We have spread all over the net with this and will do so until we are satisfied with the date of Aug 17!!! I don't think your company knows how many people like the friday the 13th series and how many will come to see it. As far as i can see you have no competition on that date that I would actually want to see so jason X is my first and only choice. Hell I'm a die hard fan so you are at least going to get 2 or 3 showings from me even if the movie sucks! I doubt it will suck but still you get my point. Don't put it in Oct., you're only going to make us fans mad. Don't put it next because that will flat out piss us off! But I've said my piece again so I'll shut up....that is until round 3.

New Line has invested alot of time and money into this movie, and I can see why they would be nervous about finding the "perfect" weekend to release it. The truth is, the first discussed release date of April would have been great. Unfortunately for all the shuffling going on at New Line you guys kind of bollocksed that up and pushed it to August. Now you need to stick to your word. I'm sure that you know how pushing a movie back and back and back just puts more and more negative light on it and gets people frustrated and angry.

Yes, there are other movies coming out in August. There are a few genre films, but I believe that they will not compete with Jason X. Ok, there's Rollerball put out by MGM. They haven't been able to make a good movie except a Bond film now and then. Rollerball is going to laughably bomb and the horror/sci-fi fans are going to boycott it. Other movies for the same demographic that are opening in August (Sole Survivors, Jay and Silent Bob etc.) are not going to take people away from Jason X. The thousands of people that visit the horror message boards have been talking about how exciting August will be and all the movies that they will watch. There is not a "one or the other" mentality.

I think the best decision is to stick with the August release date, get the trailer online and out there in front of movies, and let it take it's course. You don't have a crystal ball. Trying to "predict" what would be a better weekend in October or whenever next year is not going to be as reliable as thousands upon thousands of people demanding August. And those are just the people with computers. They have friends. They have families. You've got a helluva lot of movie fans out there talking about this movie. Don't let this buzz pass you by.

Dear New Line officials!

I am a huge fan of the "Friday the 13th" movie series. When you bought the rights of the franchise from paramount several years ago, I was happy. Finally a company that cares about the series. 1 1/2 years ago I heard for the first time of "JasonX". I was totally exited. I followed the way of "JasonX" (the reviews of the test screening, the MPAA rating etc). I am really looking forward to finally see the movie. That�s why I planned to fly with some other european fans ( I am german) to New York in august to meet other fans and see the movie together.

Now I heard the rumour that you canceled the release date and that you want to release "JasonX" in october 2026 or next year! That means for me: I cannot c see "JasonX" in the USA, because I am a student. I can only come to see the film in the summer time. I have to wait another few month to see it in germany. When the film gets released over here, I will probably know everything that happens in the movie!

I understand that you want to make as much money as possible with "JasonX". Believe me, the fans also want this. If JasonX is successfull, the chances for sequels, like the much rumoured and awaited "Freddy vs. Jason" are better if "JasonX" makes a lot of money.
I also understand that the competition (other big movies that are in theatres at the same time) is a big factor for setting an release date. If you push "JasonX" in 2026, it could to go head to head with "Terminator3", "Star Wars2", "Matrix2" and other potential blockbusters. Do you really want to challenge these films? Good luck, you will need it!
Your rumoured second alternative is october. As you will surely know, "Halloween 8" will be released in october 2026. Halloween�s last installment,H20, was very successfull a few years ago.
A though competitor! You will surely remember what happened when "Friday the 13th part8" and "A Nightmare on elm Street part5" went head to head several years ago. Both films suffered at the box office. If "Halloween8" and "JasonX" go head to head, they will both surely suffer at the box office, too!

If you keep on pushing back JasonX�s release date because of competition, the movie probably never get released. There always be competition. But this august is the perfect release date!
Here are my reasons:
1. "JasonX" is a potential SUMMER hit. It�s the perfect mixture of action, sci-fi and horror. It won�t fit good in the cold winter or fall months!
2. The media hype. JasonX good reviews. Even the MPAA liked the movie. Magazine�s write about "JasonX" and, of course, the fans talk about it. Do you think they will carry on reporting till 2026? The only news they can report on will be the pushing back of the release date! That is the inversion of good "advetising".
3. The competition. I personally cannot see movies that could go head to head with "JasonX" this summer. The competition waits in fall and in 2026 ( see above).

Are you ashamed of "JasonX"? Why did you made the movie then? I heard that there will be another screening for the New Line officials. Hopefully you will see that "JasonX" will be worth every penny you put into it.

In the interest of your money and in the interst of the fans, who waited for so long for this movie:

PLEASE RELEASE JASON X IN AUGUST!!!!!
