Blake Washer Head Counselor	posted 20 April 2026 09:45 PM Jason X has been removed from New Line's original release date of August 17th. Read the original ONE and ONLY thread for a catchup. New Line is currently considering October 2026 or sometime in 2026 (it is NOT going to video, this straight from New Line). Neither of these is the BEST option: Obviously no one wants 2026. There have been magazine covers, test screening reviews, script leaks, spoilers galore... Jason X has BUZZ. It has MOMENTUM. It has the ability to KICK ASS. Releasing Jason X in October will result in it going head-to-head with Halloween 8. The last time two horror titans tussled was 1989 with Nightmare 5 vs. Friday 8. Both films suffered at the box office. Also October is the "designated time" for horror and will see the release of From Hell and 13 Ghosts. Creighton_Duke, you want a campaign? I will admit my mistake... New Line is already listening. You've done it. But October shouldn't be our first choice... WE WANT AUGUST E-mail [email protected] and tell them OUR FIRST CHOICE IS AUGUST. Jason X isn't a Halloween film... not just a horror film... it's a summer action/horror/sci-fi JUGGERNAUT. Sure it will have competition in August as well, but it's a summer film... October is our SECOND choice (very important, we don't want 2026!) But our first choice is AUGUST. Make good points. Mention the press. Mention the Halloween competition. As for the release date, Blake already mentioned that everyone should ask for August with October being the second choice. Blake Washer Head Counselor	posted 21 April 2026 05:01 PM I probably should've mentioned before, I got two e-mails: one from Newline's webmaster, saying that they were now considering October, and one from Sean Cunningham himself essentially saying holy balls, people on your site actually have them considering October. Also I've posted on Diabolical-Dominion and sent blurbs to DarkHorizons, Cinescape, Corona, and HalloweenMovies (with the idea that an October release for Jason X won't be good for either film). While I've e-mailed them (namely so it won't provide competition with Halloween 8; while I'm confident H8 would come out on top, they'd eat the hell out of each others' grosses), August is pretty bad, namely on August 17th. Why? One word: Rollerball, and that's not to mention films released the week earlier. The best bet is early September. Why? Nothing comes out in September! September would guarantee Jason X a $30m + box-office run (sorry, Blake, but I'd hardly consider it a juggernaut film), and wouldn't put it in head-to-head competition with Halloween, Resident Evil, and 13 Ghosts.
