Interview - Conducted via e-mail on December 24, 2024
How did you get cast in the role of 'young Jason' in Freddy vs. Jason?
I used to have an agent, and they sent me to an audition for the part. They kinda rejected me and said I was too tall. Then the next day they told me I had the part.
What was your acting experience like before the movie?
I had auditioned for other commercials but FVJ was the first GIG I got... I have been in community theatre for 9 years and am still doing it.
What was it like getting the makeup put on? How long did it take?
5 hrs in, 1 hour out... Bill and Harlow did my makeup. It was painful to put all that glue on my face. I had to go get cement put on my head so they would have a replica of my head.. It was really freaky cus I am claustraphobic!
Was it difficult shooting the scenes with you drowning? I assume
those underwater shots took place somewhere else, could you tell us
about what that was like?
I love water, but being pushed under is hard. Since I have had dreams of drowing it was seriously emotional for me. They finally brought in a stunt double. Most under water was filmed in UBC TANK. There was scuba men all around me too make sure I was safe, and my dentures came out alot.
What do your friends think about your role? Pretty awesome, eh? ;)
Some really embrace it...some take it like it's way too serious, some don't care. It really doesn't bother be if they don't care, but when people treat me like I am god I look at them and say... " I was in it for 2 minutes..." But I guess they just want to know someone who was in a movie.
What are your plans for the future? (acting or otherwise)
I am going to school right now, just to catch up.. I hope to go to AMDA when I am ready for college. (America's Dramatical and Musical Acadamey..The best of the best) I am in grade 9 now.
