Biography: Victor Miller has had a long and illustrious career as a writer, starting off with penning Friday the 13th for Sean Cunningham. "Well it's amusing to be remembered as the 'father of Jason' since he has evolved so much over the years," Miller says. "The original vision I had centered around Jason's mother and the evil she caused. By the end of the film, the producers had a different vision and Jason became a permanent part of the genre." All subsequent films credit him as the creator of the Jason character.
"I wrote more than one feature film after Friday, but only one was actually produced. I wrote and was paid for lots of stuff that wound up in turnaround, that great whirling vortex in LA where scripts live in an alternate universe. In 1982 I got the chance to work in Daytime TV and the idea of a regular gig appealed to me. Since then I've written for One Life to Live, All My Children, Guiding Light, and Another World. I got three Emmys for daytime writing during that period.
I stayed married to my wife, Tina, for the past 37 years. We raised (yeah, right!) two sons - Ian and Josh. They are both grown, married, working in music in the Oakland scene, have a studio together, Universal Sound, and keep me humble at all times. I’m a practicing Buddhist (I’ll have to deal with the slasher karma sometime soon) and have never been happier." - Full interview at Diabolical-Dominion.com
