Biography: Bruce Mahler is most known for his appearances in four of the Police Academy movies as Office Douglas Fackler. He has appeared in several other films, but recently he has moved out of acting into film production.
Update: "Bruce Mahler grew up in Long Island. My father was his family's dentist and in between fillings listened to Bruce discuss his aspirations about becoming a serious concert pianist. At some point he was DJing a classical music show (circa 1973) on the student radio station at C.W. Post College.
I don't know that he ever concertized (I kinda doubt it), but he did start doing really bizarre stand-up comedy. He appeared on the Merv Griffith show doing a ventriloquist act with his hand inserted into the cavity of a (headless, of course), roasting chicken. The chicken wore a bow tie. Invariably the chicken would slide off, and he'd continue his act talking to his slimy, greased-up hand.
Come to think of it, he did get to perform on piano. He went on Fernwood Tonight, the mock talk-show hosted by Martin Mull. His piano playing consisted of wearing an old iron-lung and playing lying on his back, with his hands upside-down." - Thanks to Charles Greenburg!
