Nothing This Evil Ever Dies…

Friday The 13th Website Back From Server Meltdown

Welcome to our temp blog! Here’s what went down: a virus got into our server. We spent months trying to repair the data. When that started dragging on, we decided to hit the button that goes BOOM. Google & Firefox have cleared us of any nasties. So now we’re back and that’s all you need to know.

But if you want to know more…

The forum and blog have been hit quite hard so needed to be wiped clean. There’s a good chance the forum can be restored, but our recent backups of the blog article database have been compromised, with a great deal of recent postings lost. We have the older stuff, but with that needing quite some work to restore, we’re going to leave all that behind for now and just go with a clean slate.

In 2024, Blake & Brenna were hit out of nowhere by a massive data loss that killed the mighty message boards, so they sold the website to me. Now 5 years later, we’ve had our own site meltdown – different circumstances but same result. So where do we go from here?

The forum will be back online… or maybe a brand new one utilizing new software, and the blog here is quite a “stripped down” version so will just be a random catch-all for now. But firmer plans have to do with the main website, where a massive relaunch is being worked on.

Thanks for all the kind messages via email and Facebook. It’s good to be back!

  1. I’m happy to see that you guys are finally back. But, I do hope you guys are also switching hosts. Any decent host even if hit by the nastiest virus ever known would simply have a full backup of a previous day or so ready to go.

I’m sure you guys have become something of experts in the last few months being forced to deal with this issue, but you really should have been making weekly (if not daily) database backups especially with such a popular website.

I’m actually an expert in WordPress (and really all things web/graphic design in general) and would be willing to donate some time to getting you guys back up and secure this time around. Maybe in return some halloweenlove.com backlink love.

    Thanks
