We will explain their uses and where they can be found in the films, but the more exciting news about these axes is that they very well may be linked together. You could say that technically the same axe was used to kill Jason and Melissa!

Pictured below are the two axes in the discussion. Mario from the Friday the 13th Props Museum was nice enough to share pictures of these axes for fans to see. The axe on the left of the main pic is made of rubber and was used to swing at Susan Jennifer Sullivan (Melissa) by Kane Hodder in The New Blood. The axe on the right of the main pic was used in two different instances, to our knowledge. The first film it is believed to be the axe that is attached to Jason’s head in Friday the 13th Part 3 after Chris embeds it in his head and mask. The second film it is used in is The Final Chapter towards the beginning when the cops are placing the axe in the evidence bag.

We have examined these axes and a very strong case can be made that both of these axes were created from the same mold! There are very distinguishing marks on the pieces that Mario and I have seen that are not displayed in the photo above that make a compelling case. As of right now, it can be said that the same axe that killed Jason, killed Melissa!

We are in the process of verfying this information with members of the production crew, but what an unintended and spectacular find to see that the two axes from the very same mold were used throughout multiple Friday the 13th films!

Friday the 13th 2024 Wardrobe Sold Recently http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-2009-wardrobe-sold-recently/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-2009-wardrobe-sold-recently/#comments Sun, 12 Dec 2024 05:19:43 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=14003 A few days ago a screen used wardrobe from the Friday the 13th 2024 reboot was sold on eBay. The wardrobe is from character “Clay Miller” played by Actor Jared Padalecki. The wardrobe includes a T-shirt, short button sleeve shirt, green jacket and brown boots (with mud still on the bottom). Below are the original auction photo from Profiles In History, plus additional photos of the wardrobe laid out with a COA from Plantium Dunes signed by Producer Brad Fuller.

Back in April, the Hero wardrobe for the character of Wade was sold for only $200. This wardrobe for “Clay” sold for $900! Personally, I thought the wardrobe for “Clay” was going to sell for more. For those collectors, keep an eye out for more auctions of screen used items as they do appear from time to time.

Film Prop Thursday: Jason Takes Manhattan Costume http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-jason-takes-manhattan-costume/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-jason-takes-manhattan-costume/#comments Thu, 09 Dec 2024 16:59:21 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=13987 There have been a few requests from visitors to see what the Jason costumes look like today outside of the films that they originally appeared in. Most of the costumes used in the films now reside in private collections, such as Mario Kirner’s Friday the 13th Props Museum. I usually forward fans over to his site to get an idea of what the items look like. However, today I wanted to showcase a full prop set of the Jason Voorhees costume from Jason Takes Manhattan.

I posted a story about this several months ago, but thought it relevant to feature these items again as there may have been those who did not get a chance to see them. Below are pics of one of the Jason Takes Manhattan costumes used during production accompanied by analysis of the clothing by Mario Kirner.

Shirt
The shirt itself matches mine 100%. Same brand, same color, same bottons, same secret detail that was added to both shirts by the producion. Just one difference, the condition of the Planet Hollywood shirt is just a bit worse. The big hole below his right hand chest side is ripped through while mine is still a “hole”. And most notable, it features 4 holes on the back while mine has only one hole. I searched through the film and each time you see Jason from the back you see a shirt with one hole only. The last time at Time Square. So I think it has something to do with continuity of the storyline and this shirt was worn by Kane during the toxic wash scenes to simulate the shirt/clothes in a worser condition, when attacked by the toxic.

Mask
The hock looks a bit different compared to mine. The shape is a bit off and the color and paint looks different too. It has different straps and closures attached to it. In 2024 I met the memorabilia manager Carmen Hemus who confirmed that the mask is indeed a replica that was added to round this display up. Mario mentioned and also it is apparent in the full image above, that the Planet Hollywood costume consits of shirt, pants, boots, gloves, head appliance and one arm appliance.

Film Prop Thursday: The New Blood Costume http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-the-new-blood-costume/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-the-new-blood-costume/#comments Thu, 02 Dec 2024 15:27:29 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=13837 Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood is a film that is enjoyed by most every fan of the franchise. There are numerous reasons fans love the movie, starting with the portrayal of Jason by Kane Hodder or the recycled plot of The Final Chapter or the creative deaths designed by Magical Media Industries. The overwhelming favorite part of The New Blood, however, is the look created for Jason. Today we will take a look at one of the Jason costumes used in the film, with information and images provided by Mario Kirner and his Friday the 13th Props Museum

The costume pictured below is one of five costumes that were worn on screen consisting of shirt and pants. One costume set was worn during the fire stunt at the end of the film, in Tina’s basement, and that was burnt down entirely. A second costume set was worn AFTER the fire stunt at the end of the film (it was more broken down, ripped up and dirty than the others). The other three costumes were worn as the “hero version” of the costume. The hero pants and shirts that were worn were mixed up throughout the film. You can see a particular pair of pants paired with a shirt in one scene and then with another shirt in the very next scene.

The pair of trousers pictured in the costume set above is handmarked inside as the main costume. Also included in the costume set pictured above is the suit with the body appliances attached. Bones, ribs and skin made from a silicone kind of material were formed over the suit to give actor Kane Hodder the appearance on-screen of having his body heavily rotted and ripped apart.

This particular appliance undersuit was worn during the scenes that required fire stunts. For example, the undersuit utilized exploding squibs during the scene where Tina electrocutes Jason in the puddle of water using the power lines and also, of course, the suit was used during the most memorable and famous fire stunt in the basement of Tina’s house. The undersuit still has wires running along with activated squibs attached and is heavily burnt at the rearside. It has velcro running down the entire front so Kane could slip out of it real quick in case of danger. You can actually see the velcro when watching the fire scene.

Although there are three hero costume sets used in the film, each set looks very unique in distressing and markings. Mario was able to screen match both the shirt and pants of the pictured costume set to various scenes in the film. The costume is still in fairly good condition considering it’s heavy usage on screen and it’s age. Mario also mentioned that pictures do not do the costume justice as he says it looks spectacular in person.

Big thanks to Mario Kirner for sharing images of his screen-used Jason Voorhees costume and lending somer great insight into not only its use in the film, but also some information on all of the costumes used throughout the filming of The New Blood!

Friday The 13th Props To Be Displayed In February http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-props-to-be-displayed-in-february/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-props-to-be-displayed-in-february/#comments Wed, 01 Dec 2024 19:44:57 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=13831 A lot of our posts and stories revolve around events that reside in the United States. This fact is discouraging to our visitors that live outside of the U.S. as those fans are just as big a part of the legacy and popularity of the franchise as us Jason crazed Americans. So, we have a little treat for those that live in or around Germany. Mario Kirner will be showcasing a few select items of his Friday the 13th Props Museum at a special Movie Event in the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany on February 6, 2024.

We had mentioned the event previously as Jason Voorhees actor Douglas Tait will be in attendance. As for what screen-used items that will be on display, we are certain you will see some Freddy vs Jason props show up to accompany Mr. Tait for some possibly cool photo opportunities! Information on the event is below.

Film Prop Thursday: Pamela Voorhees’ Head http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-pamela-voorhees-head/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-pamela-voorhees-head/#comments Thu, 25 Nov 2024 04:57:30 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=13743 One of the most talked about and iconic scenes in the Friday the 13th film series is that of the decapitation of Mrs. Voorhees. The effect of the decapitation was achieved by casting a fake head of actress Betsy Palmer and then attaching that fake head to a dummie via toothpicks. With one clean swipe, the machete would break the toothpics and the prop Pamela Voorhees head fell off. Not to be lost in that sequence is the generous amount of blood and use of manly hands grasping at the air.

After production wrapped, it is believed that the prop head stayed in the possession of effects man Tom Savini for some time. In 2024, the prop head was offered for sale to private buyers, but there were no takers for the item at that time. A year or so later, the Pamela Voorhees head was placed up for bid on eBay for the price of $10,000. Someone did buy this piece from that eBay auction and then later that same person sold the prop at the Profiles In History auction house.

The exact owner is not known at this time, but whoever it is has in their possession a true historical artifact from an influential film in motion picture history.

Film Prop Thursday: Jason Lives Hockey Mask http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-jason-lives-hockey-mask/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/film-prop-thursday-jason-lives-hockey-mask/#comments Thu, 18 Nov 2024 20:29:57 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=13662 Each Thursday, for the forseeable future, we will feature one prop that was used during the production of a Friday the 13th film. To feature an item will be to give some background information on what the item is and how it was used in the respective film. One item may have more information than another. There may be some items which have been seen before by our visitors, however, hopefully fans will enjoy some insight into these items.

Today we look at a screen used hockey mask from Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part 6. This particular mask, which is owned by Paul Wintner and displayed at www.yourprops.com , was worn by actor C.J. Graham after Jason was shot by Sheriff Garris. It’s a very cool mask and one of many used during the production of the film.

Upclose Look At Screen Used Jason Goes To Hell Hock http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/upclose-look-at-screen-used-jason-goes-to-hell-hock/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/upclose-look-at-screen-used-jason-goes-to-hell-hock/#comments Tue, 20 Apr 2024 18:28:42 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=9332 This hockey mask is my personal favorite in the franchise. I have nothing against any other mask that was used, but I just enjoy the dirty, worn look that the JGTH hock represents. It is very simliar to The New Blood hock in size and in damage and I like that fact. Recently, pictures of a screen used hockey mask from Jason Goes To Hell were posted at the NightOwl Forums and I think the mask looks spectacular. This mask was on display at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas back in 2024.

Along with this mask, in the fourth picture down, you can see a miniature Jason Voorhees next to the hock. That is the standing Jason used in one of two Demon Model sets created for the end sequence of Jason Goes To Hell. We have featured the other model set on the website before, with a similar, yet restored Jason figure.

To get and upclose look at the mask, view the pictures below.

Friday the 13th (2009) Hero Axe Up For Auction http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-2009-hero-axe-up-for-auction-2/ http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/friday-the-13th-2009-hero-axe-up-for-auction-2/#comments Thu, 03 Sep 2024 19:21:27 +0000 jasonsfury http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/?p=3546 Back in April, we mentioned that there was going to be a huge Hollywood auction through Profiles in History. Various items from the new Friday the 13th movie were auctioned off. One such item was the Hero Axe used on-screen my Derek Mears. Now that axe is up for auction once again on eBay. Originally, the axe was won at auction for $1,000 plus shipping and auction fees. The starting bid now is $1,900. I assume that most everyone who visists us here at fridaythe13thfilms.com will not be able to come close to bidding on this, but I always like to keep everyone informed.

Check out the pics below and if you do decide to bid, good luck!
