Video Review Saturday: Different Part 2 Video Releases

This week I thought it would be a good idea to start reviewing the home video releases for the series. Since there are so many different International releases and media that these movies have been released on, I decided to review one movie in the franchise each week. So, today’s review will be for Part 2.

There are many different home media to look at including, VHS, Beta, CED, Laserdisc, DVD and Blu-Ray. Although, I don’t show the Blu-Ray for the movie, but it’s the same as the DVD anyways. Enjoy the video!

  1. What special features are there on the DVD’s?
    BTW cool collection.

  2. Magnificent collections!
The thing that the many video and Laserdisc of Japanese are introduced is joyous.

part2… There were two kinds of VHS videos, three kinds of Laserdisc, and one kind of VHD disc were sold in Japan.
I can’t find some though I look for them in the secondhand market in Japan…

  3. Too bad we lost touch about that Swedish ex-rental VHS of part 2, otherwise it could have been in this clip. But you can still have it, as well as the Danish part 8 VHS. I remembered again about our correspondence pretty long after and e-mailed you again, telling also about a couple of Swedish DVD’s as well, but maybe you didn’t get that mail?

  4. Loved the video. As far as the picture of Paul on the DVD rerelease from last year (U.S.), no that is not in the movie. It would be interesting to find out the source and story behind that picture. . .

  5. Man Ive got to say You have the coolest Jason collection Ive ever seen. My guess on that shot of Paul on back of the deluxe edition DVD, it could be His facial expression right before Jason kills Him, or its the moment right before He runs. There was never an explination for what happened to Paul. Jason either killed Him, or He made a break for it. Maybe He didnt want to be held accountable for all the teenage deaths. He opened the camp too close to Crystal lake. Its a question We may never get the answer to.

  6. To JP Demented:

Great musings. If you have the Crystal Lake Memories book as I have, you can turn to the second chapter about the second movie, and you can read writer Ron Kurz’s explanation of it. More of less, the general confusion over Paul’s death is also explained in the Blu-Ray of Part 2 which I also own, as well as in the Deluxe Edition DVD from past year as well. Originally there was a deleted shot at the end of Mrs. Voorhee’s face as it smiled a sinister smile and winked in a darkly comedic manner, signifying after the last spoken words of dialogue (as in Giny exclaiming “Paul?! Where’s Paul?! …” in a trailing off, confused mannor) that he was, in fact, sadly dead.

There was also supposedly a deleted shot of inside of Jason’s mask that was also dropped. These were roughly the only non-gore moments that the film makers, and not the MPAA, decided to omit from the final film before it’s release. Everyone said in the book as well as on the Blu-Ray that the final effect of the actress who was made up as Mrs. Voorhee’s was overall just plain a bit silly, but I always wish they have left in it there, as it would oddly enough complete this very underrated installment a bit more, and would further more or less explain that Paul HAD in fact been killed by the almighty Jason. By taking it out, the film makers sadly didn’t realize they were sort of oddly enough trapping themselves into a corner.

Anyway I hope I helped out a bit!

  7. Oh and by the way: These new weekly video up-dates directly from Jason (as in jasonsfury) himself is easily my favorite part of the site/blog feature as of late. I’m really enjoying these and would love and not care and mind to watch even longer ones, so I most certainly look forward to watching Jason’s up-loaded latest.

Haha, I simply can’t get over the fact that are dearest lead Blogger has the same very common of course first name as our favorite old-school Slasher villian; it’s as if we’re talking about the undead hockey masked bad-ass himself as up loading it *lmao*. Keep’em coming, J!

  8. Very awesome collection, you never cease to amaze!
