Cast News & Clarification

New Friday May 4th, 2024

amandarighettipic.jpgAn official statement on Amanda Righetti courtesy of Christian Sellers:

There has been speculation that Amanda Righetti has dropped out of the FRIDAY THE 13TH remake and replaced by actress Danielle Panabaker. This is simply not true. I would also like to address the misconception that Amanda is not the true female lead of the film. This information is also incorrect. Amanda is currently in Austin, Texas filming her role as ‘Whitney,’ the younger sister to Jared Padalecki’s character, ‘Clay.’ Please note that Amanda Righetti is indeed the female lead of this film. Thank you.

According to a blog (found via BD), a new cast member. Also a few cast names I haven’t seen listed before, either that or I forgot because they’re all just Jason fodder to me.

Ryan Hansen (Superhero Movie, “Veronica Mars”) is set to star in New Line Cinema, MTV Films and Paramount Pictures’ Friday the 13th. He joins Jared Padalecki, Derek Mears, Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Aaron Yoo, Travis Van Winkle, Willa Ford, Nick Mennell, Jonathan Sadowski, Nana Visitor and Arlen Escarpeta.

  1. Kenneth Milligan Says:

Did they really need to cast Arlen Escarpeta and Aaron Yoo in this movie. This is clearly the work of MTV. In the real world you don’t ever see a group of white friends that include a black guy and an asian guy, mexican, gay …etc. I’m sure that’s great for liberals, but what about the rest of us normal people. And Willa Ford shouldn’t be in this either. They should have put in a girl that has real breasts not fake ones. Aside from the fake ones not looking good, most girls out side of CA. have real breasts. All of these things f*ck up the realism and makes it hard to get into the movie. And with the casting of the black guy means that we will end up having to listen to hip-hop slang through out most of the movie. I’ve had enough of the 90’s, you’d think we wouldn’t have to put up with the stupid fads any more. Hell MTV has already destroyed music and now they’ve started in on movies. But who knows we might get lucky and they’ll make the black guy into a genuine person and not a hip-hop stereo type. (And in case a liberal reads this let me say for the record - I have nothing against people of different races. I just can’t stand liberal ideology and rap music. They’ve both been forced on us for the past 14 years and enough is enough.)

  2. Lori Says:

I agree 100%, hip hop culture is lame and really annoying. The 90’s are over it’s time for Hollywood to move on. I don’t care what they do about “breasts” as long as it isn’t over the top nudity like in Hostel. Any way I hope they don’t ruin the remake. They need to make it more like the old friday movies.

  3. Steve Says:

I just hope it doesn’t turn out like a “Scream/I Know What You Did Last Summer” version of Friday the 13th. And I liked Hostel, I thought the nudity was an important part of the story. I’m with you about the hip hop slang/music. I hope it’s not in the movie.

  4. Richard Says:

Danielle Panabaker is smokin’ hot, I hope she has a nude scene in the remake.

  5. Kristen Says:

If they use any music at all in the movie. It should be hard rock, like they did in Friday The 13th Part 6 with Alice Cooper. They should use the creepy violin music like in parts 1-4 too. Just anything other than rap.

  6. Todd Says:

I think Derek Mears will be perfect as Jason. He already has that kind of look that was used in friday parts 3 and 4. They should use a mask like the one in part 3. I always thought that was the best one.

  7. Micheal Says:

I really hope this doesn’t turn out to be another typical horror movie like “House of Wax” with the usual “wisecracking commemts”, “the tough guy”, “the b*tch” and “the hip-hop taking black guy”. It would be nice if they would use characters that you can relate to and that don’t annoy the hell out of you.

  8. Micheal Says:

Sorry about the typo with “commemts” instead of comments.

  9. Terry Says:

I agree, the wisecracking comments in movies are really annoying.

  10. Stephen Says:

although im a fan of rap and hip/hop it doesnt belong in a friday movie…stay true to the original and give us a great movie with real characters and something that will scare our pants off…

  11. David Says:

I’m just praying they don’t f*ck up the remake. hell it’s only friday remake I’ll ever have a chance to see in my lifetime. they usually only do remakes once every 30 to 50 years. and I agree with the other people on here, NO rap, hip hop or r&b. just use the violins like in the early fridays. but if they need anyother type it SHOULD be rock, nothing else. and for God’s sake, no character stereo types. I agree with Kenneth and Micheal about that one hundred and ten percent.

  12. jordan Says:

    re make fuck

  13. steven Says:

but panabaker is still in the film right???
i cant belive she went to disney channel to gettin killed in friday the 13th (come on we know she gonna die)

  14. steven Says:

ya i dont hate rap (i hate the gangster rap) but i dont wanna see it in a horror movie at all

  15. Katie Mulroney Says:

Hey Kenneth Milligan, you sound extremely ignorant in regards to your comment about Arlen Escarpeta and Aaron Yoo. What world do you live in where a group of friends can not include black, white, asian, hispanic etc… I suggest whatever bubble you’re living in, you get out and explore the real world. Ethnicity is not a “fad”, get a clue and educate yourself!! I guess u don’t have anything against people of different races, as long as they’re not cast in movies where they’re friends with white people right…. oh, and by the way i’m not Liberal.

  16. Sybren van der Schoot Says:

Sorry to say, but if you get a cast that works great together, it doesn’t really matter what race they are.
But if they were cast just to reach a bigger public, that’s a big no-no. Just take a look at Busta Rhymes in Halloween resurrection. Purely commercial and annoying to watch. But who knows how the cast for the new Friday is performing together, maybe it’s going to be great.
The violins and maybe that country song you hear in the original Friday the 13th, that’s what I liked about the whole feeling of being in the little area of Crystal Lake.
In what year does the remake take place? If it’s in the present, they indeed should play some hard rock of Alice Cooper, but not the black metal from Freddy vs. Jason. Because then I wouldn’t play the soundtrack too often.

  17. Kenneth Milligan Says:

Katie Mulroney, you’re not as bright as you think you are. If you were, you’d know the difference in someone being “ignorant” and “mean”. And I’m not trying to be mean, I’m just being realistic. Oh, and by the way… if you believe in liberal ideology, then you are a liberal. It doesn’t matter if you want to call your self one. And only a liberal would call someone ignorant because they disagree with them on a racial issue. If you ever get out of the politically correct bubble you live in, you’ll see that most people don’t buy into that liberal bullsh*t… oh, and you can take your bleeding heart and go f*ck your self.

  18. Lori Says:

Katie you’re f*cking stupid. “what world do you live in where a group of friends can not include black, white, asian, hispanic etc…”, I don’t know?… the real one. Nobody said that a group of friends couldn’t include different races, but usually they don’t. I don’t have any friends out side of my race but I don’t hate people of different races either, there’s a big difference. You must be a liberal or just brain dead because there is no way a normal person would make a comment like yours. Normal people don’t give a f*ck either way.

  19. Todd Says:

Sybren, I agree I don’t think race matters. Like the black girl in friday part 6 - she fit in just fine, but givin’ MTV’s strong liberal bias I seriously doubt it will be anything other than a politically correct hip-hop stereo type with an interracial relationship to boot. I’m sick and tired of hollywood putting a politically correct perspective on movies instead of a normal perspective. And Katie, I have to agree with Kenneth, you’re wrong and you do kind of sound like a liberal.

  20. Kristen Says:

Katie, you need to stop worring about the rest of the world being politically correct and get a life. Someone disagreeing with you doesn’t make them “ignorant”. If you get out a little more you’ll find that most people don’t share your liberal point of view and no, they’re not ignorant or racist, they’re normal. Hating people of different races and not being sensitive to them, is not the same thing. I’m not sensitive to my own race, that doesn’t mean I hate them.
