Pics of the all new Jason Voorhees in action (DENIED!)
These pics leaked from New Line today and they feature the all new Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears) in action! There are definitely some notable changes to the character this time. Some will be disappointed. Some will drool. Personally, I dig it! The hair may be a bit much, but it’s a return to “human Jason” that I have longed for. He appears to be a lot more agile than he was in many of the entries in the original series. Thanks to one of our awesome readers (exile) for tracking down the pics from the site ENINEW
Update: After receiving cease & desist letters from both Warner Bros and New Line Cinema, I’ve complied by yanking the images.
Friday The 13th TV Series DVD Artwork
Paramount have released the cover art for Friday The 13th: The Series - Season One (PreOrder) due on September 23rd. Here it is below, or whisk off to TVShowsOnDVD for higher-res. I’d bet when Season Two comes out, it’s the same cover only the greens are turned red or some such color.

First Pic Of Jason Voorhees

The good lads at EW have released the first pic of Jason Voorhees - and here’s the link - (we actually post a link to the source, y’all). That it’s a faraway shot is obviously part of the publicity strategy to milk fan anticipation in seeing New Jason for all his worth. Cool by me. That’s either a brown or flesh-colored undershirt, or Jason’s now topless.
Update: ShockTillYouDrop have made a high-res scan.
Michael Bay Talks To Entertainment Weekly
Nothing substantially new, but better than nothing folks. From Entertainment Weekly:
You recently wrapped production on your update of Friday the 13th, and horror buffs out there are dying to know: what’s it going to be about?
It’s a reconception of the original. We’re introducing a whole group of new kids. What we always try to do is add a little bit of freshness to these movies that were really scary back then and update them for a new audience. So are you following the same plot as the very first Friday the 13th?
It’s a little different. I don’t want to give it away because of the Internet crazies. There’s been rumors that you’re going to include plots from all three Friday the 13ths into your remake. Is that true?
The first two, yeah.
Cunningham On New Friday
Just a hit & run post here as I rocket toward midnight, read the full article at Fango.
While attending France’s Gerardmer Film Festival earlier this year, original FRIDAY THE 13TH director Sean Cunningham chatted with Fango about the FRIDAY franchise and Marcus Nispel’s upcoming remake, due February 13, 2009. Cunningham is very fond of his “creature,” even if he would love to deal with a more “human” Jason rather than the cold (and a little dumb) killing machine we all know. “At one point, when I got the rights back and wanted to do another Jason movie, I thought the series had become just awful,” he tells Fango. “I wanted to make it about people again and create kind of a real villain, but then I understood that almost everybody wanted to have Jason as their gladiator! The audience wanted a ride on the rollercoaster; that’s what they wanted from the franchise.”
First Friday Shot

Reader ‘Kane’ informed me this image appeared on the official website of the Friday The 13th remakes’ smokin’ hot female lead Amanda Righetti. It appears to be the very first photo still seen anywhere. TeeHee!
Dean Lorey Goes To Hell

Post-opening-credits in Jason Goes To Hell, the coroner getting plugged into the examination table’s steel grating is one of the best series kills ever. And of course you’re aware that that the giggling bespectacled guy that bore the brunt was also the film’s screenwriter, Dean Lorey. I’ve been alerted to the existence of his Blog which contains a freshly posted dish-o-rama about his time with the project.
Lotta folks have slagged the flick in its time (including Dean!) but I always dug it. I’ve never loved Jason for the mask, but for the big dumb moron brutal deluxo whether he wore a hockey mask, a potato sack or a 19th century garter belt (okay, made that last one up). I simply viewed JGTH as Jason without his mask on for most of the duration… only, we get to see what sort of facial expressions he has under all that usually emotionally-obscured mucked up flesh. But don’t deride me for talking up the subtext of this flick, I’ll leave it to Dean to bring me back to earth by explaining the wild wacky world of writing a part 9. Here’s one of my favorite paragraphs:
So, that Thursday, Sean came into my office and told me that I needed to rewrite JGTH so that they could have a new script to give to New Line by Monday – which was only four days away. He wanted to know if I was up to the challenge. “Of course!” I said, eager to step up to the keyboard, prove my genius and save the day. This foolish, youthful arrogance was exactly what Sean was counting on.
Catherine Parks (’Vera;’ Friday the 13th Part 3)

How much did you about the FRIDAY THE 13TH movies when you were offered the part of Vera in PART 3? Which character did you initially audition for and how did you feel about slasher movies and horror in general at that time?
“I auditioned for the part of Vera and because I was new to Los Angeles at the time I knew nothing of the previous Fridays.” Read the rest of this entry »
Script Archive
Today I started up a Multimedia section of the Gallery. To kick it off I’ve archived several Friday The 13th Scripts, many of which (Freddy Vs Jason drafts) haven’t been present on the site for years.
