Final Girl Grudge Match: Megan Garris vs Rennie Whitman
The first Final Girl Grudge Match ended in a, gulp, tie last week. It was an interesting matchup and proved to divide the visitors to the website. This weeks matchup may serve up the same divisive response as these two Final Girls didn’t do a whole lot to thwart Jason’s advances, although Rennie did create Pumpkin face.
Megan Garris (Jason Lives) vs Rennie Whitman (Jason Takes Manhattan)
Although Megan was snappy and had a sharp tongue, she never really did anything at all to stop Jason Voorhees from killing her friends or from trying to drown Tommy, until the very end of the film. Rennie spent a lot of time running from Jason in Canada, um, I mean New York. Although the ending of Jason Takes Manhattan proved she had some smarts and rendered Jason almost motionless after a bath in Toxic Waster.
Which girl has what it takes to not only survive Jason but a showdown between each other?
Rennie is a super hottie but I saw her more of a victim than an actual pro-active survivor. I’ll say Megan Garris. She help bust Tommy out of jail, stopped Jason by using the boat propeller on Jason’s throat and saved Tommy from drowning at the end of Jason Lives.
i think the pics above about say it all. Rennie had the clueless/scared/helpless vibe going. Megan had 80s hair. Megan was fairly proactive, stuffing Tommy’s face in her crotch and putting Yabang dude in jail to enable Tommy to complete his quest. I go with Megan

God, Megan was so hot it almost blew my mind and still does.
Not that this is an answer, I just needed to get that out.
Gotta go with Megan. Given time, she would have been a Jason Voorhees nemesis, where I think Rennie survived through pure luck mostly.

I think Megan was tougher in attitude. Rennie seemed scared all the time. Sure, she nailed Jason with a barrel of toxic waste, but how often do you find one of those lying around? Wait, if Crystal Lake is in the Garden State of New Jersey-you never know. I’m gonna have to go with Megan. She just has that bad girl attitude.

Not only one of the hottest girls in the series but also someone with street smarts and attitude.
I like Rennie but with the exception of throwing the toxic waste on Jason at the end of the flick she was more a victim through a majority of the picture.
It has to be Megan. Her movie had the best car, the best kills, and the best zombie Jason.
Megan, she actually seemed to embody that 80′s teenage attitude.I just think she was a better fit for the movie she was cast in. JTM she was scared and her hallucinations always made Jason look like an Asian kid with a lazy eye lol No offense to anyone here who fits that bill but we all know Jason shouldn’t.

I think its Rennie. Like Tommy she has had nightmares and visions of Jason because of a past incident and she faced those fears and did what Megan never really did and fought back against Jason and not go help her boyfriend finish him off.
Pam and Whitney was a tie? Interesting.

Rennie always came off as a scared, fragile victim to me. Megan was tough, sharp with the tongue, and when the time came to get tough, she did. Rennie, yeah, she through the waste in Jason’s face, but she had to fight back; she and Shawn were locked in the sewer with him. Megan was safely on land, away from the action, but she literally ran into the lake to take care of business. For me, Megan wins this one in a landslide.
While my first instinct was to say Megan simply because she’s better with confrontations, on second thought, Rennie is lucky. I mean, Rennie is lucky beyond normal protagonist “death exemptions.” I can totally see a match where Megan wins most of the battle, only to be tripped by a wayward Toby and fall out of the ring, giving Rennie a victory by default.
So, hesitantly, I say Rennie.

Thats a tough one. I kind of like them both. But Im going to have to say Megan. I had this huge crush on Jennifer Cooke, not only for Jason Lives but the original V series. Rennie did hit Jason with toxic waste, stick an artists pen into his eye, and hit Him with a cop car. Which yeah proves Rennie did more to Jason than Megan. But in part 6 Megan actually aims the gun at Deputy Rick and busts Tommy out of jail. Goes on a pretty cool car chase with the cops. And She had the guts to try and rescue Tommy from the lake knowing full well Jason isnt dead. And actually She did the best thing of all, She didnt do much battle with Jason but She did “kill” Him with the boat motor. Rennie and Megan are both pretty girls, but my vote goes to Megan.
I have to go with Rennie on this. She’s a soldier!
Megan Garris. She’s cool, VERY attractive, and Rennie was just “too uppity”. Besides, Megan risked her life going in the lake after her love interest knowing Jason was in there and cut into/broke Jason’s neck from the boat propellar…What did Rennie do? Run away the whole movie and throw a vat of toxic waste in his face.

To this day I don’t understand why/how director Rob Hedden made Rennie apparently be attacked by Jason when she was a little girl. If she was 17-18 in current time (release of JTM), how in the world could she have been of small age in the time Jason was a young child? I’m not attacking you, but I am not letting this one little thing go until the director comes forward and admits his BIG screw up…it’s not even mentioned in “Crystal Lake Memories”

My vote goes to Rennie McCullough. Yes Megan was really involved at the end of Jason Lives to stop Jason and she helped Tommy Jarvis as well. But the reason why choose Rennie is because unlike most final girls (with the exception of Chris Higgins from pt. 3) Rennie, actually had a back-story with Jason. Now back-stories are not neccesarry all the time but it makes it more interesting than some random girl facing Jason. I mean Rennie had to deal with her douche-bag uncle who almost drowned her when she was a child, and with bitch Tamara who liked to torment her because of her fear of the water. She was also killed by Jason when she was smaller after he tried to drown her than she had to face him in New York. Also Rennie was a really likable character and final girl and really rare in horror movies I actually hoped she didn’t died and managed to stop Jason. So Rennie McCullough gets my vote.

hmmmmm…..I have to go with Rennie. She was more involved in the movie towards the end then Megan was. Although if they both bent over, I would happily screw them both

I’d say Rennie; she was smarter and more resourceful in a pinch (she did have enough mind to hit open the toxic waste container with the flashlight, throw toxic waste in Jason’s face, wake up Sean, and then head up towards the exit). Megan did go back to protect the kids but didn’t get a chance to really do anything to Jason, except almost get her head squashed. She also had Tommy there to back her up – which brings me to another point: Rennie did not have a guy/Sean to help her since he was laying helpless while she had to run and fend off Jason. So Rennie all the way for me.

This is a hard one to pick. Both girls have certain qualities I look for in the final girls. That being said I gotta go with Megan. She just seemed tougher, more resilient and a fighter witch is what I like out of a final girl. Plus she obviously is very attractive.
