Hugh Syme’s Jason: The Revenge 13 Artwork
Our usual visitors know that I have a great admiration for Jason Goes To Hell and everything that was created to market the film. Well, today Daniel sent in an email which contained an alternate look at the poster and cover art that was utilized for the film. This awesome image was found by visiting well known artist and illustrator Hugh Syme’s website. Hugh is well known for creating artwork for a number of rock bands, such as Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.
So, the question must be asked, did he create the original concept for the Jason coverart seen in the image below? One thing of note is that on his website, the description of the image contains Universal Studios. Interesting indeed. Does anyone know more about this? I personally like the image displayed here better than what New Line eventually went with.
I never liked that metal looking hockey mask that was used in promo shots of the movie. That image above is just far superior, I wish that was the DVD cover.
That image is a lot better than the dumb metal mask and flames. I’d love to have a copy of that framed in my room

Wow, that would look great as a poster on my wall….more creepy en, darker….what the h..ll is wrong with those post-production people about these movies…they always manage to make the friday movies look like cheap and worthlees movies…this version of JGTH looks more like the 80’s posters and cover-arts I always loved…
Man, this is just awesome! It totally dig this and also think they should have used this instead.
Although I think ths image is light years ahead of the final image that was chosen I think I know where they were going with the flames obviously representing hell and the metal mask sybolizing the strength and power of Jason. NewLine probly thought it would sell the movie more then a dark cold image I still dont like the worm thing anyway but I think it goes better with flames since its like a demon babyworm thing Id like to see the two images next to each other.
That is an awesome poster. But I like the one New Line went with better. I was hoping in some point in the film Jason would wear a metal mask. But of course He did not. Maybe if the original poster had the flames in the background, itd look better. Thats about 80 percent reason I like the final poster. But if they do a DVD re-release, or maybe blu-ray…maybe they should add the original poster.
I say everyone vote which one they prefer original or final? im curous now lol
