  1. I think I gotta go with Ted White for The Final Chapter. I don’t know why but he seemed convincing as a masked serial killer. Just his mannerisms freaked me out a little. Very menacing and I mean that as a compliment.

  2. I’m with Hodder.
He has a special “feeling” with the mask and I really love the look of Jason in New Blood.

  3. Ted White is the Man! Though I think Steve,Richard & CJ all did really good jobs.

  4. CJ all the way.

  5. Kane Hodder Is Lame. The New blood is the worst film in the series by far. Since “Anyone but Kane” isnt a choice. We’ll go Ted White here due to the realism in the character.

  6. how can anyone say Kane Hodder was lame??? he was far and away the best actor ever to care about Jason and the only one who took it REALLY seriously!!!

  7. Ted White

  8. TED WHITE!!!!!! He seemed the most like how Jason should have looked.

  9. I agree Kane is one of the most respected actors to play the part. I agree he cares and takes it seriously and is regarded as “The” Jason. However, Kanes films are the worst in the series. I’ve always felt The New Blood is the cartoon of the series. Jason vs Jean Grey is a stupid idea. I Guess I just don’t like the undead Jason. Its a personal opinion. But i think most agree that part8, JGTH, X are the worst of the series. Kane was too musclebound to be Jason. I would expect the dead rotting corpse of the killer from The Final Chapter to get smaller as he rots, not turn into a professional body builder. Anyway, come to think of it I’d like to meet Kane, or any of the actors. Dont mean to step on any toes.

  10. Kane’s perfomance was torpid at best. I agree that part 7 was the “cartoon of the series”. That’s an excellent description. Jason looked like an angry muppet. Fortunately the person I hated the most in the movie was Lar-Park Lincoln! The anticipation of seeing her get slaughtered made the movie work for me.
I thought that Richard Brooker was excellent but Ted White took it just a little bit further. He was angrier, more violent, desparate. He was perfect. TED WHITE ALL THE WAY! Happy Friday the 13th everyone!

  11. PS Where’s Walmart Man and his loving ode to Warrington Gillette? We’re waiting… ;-)

  12. i would have to go with cj since 6 is my fav, there all great, it would be an honor to be in there shoes.

  13. Brooker, White & Hodder r the illest

  14. I am, and have been a Kane Hodder fan. So he is my number one choice of actors to dawn the hockey mask! He put in a lot of time and energy to get Jason down right, and he respects the character much more then the other actors who have played Jason seem to.

Kane is Numero Uno for Jason in my book!

  15. Ted White. Scary dude.

  16. Hello,

By far, Ted White (Part IV) was the best Jason. Kane created and perfected the zombie Jason and did a great job but he came in when the series become cartoonish which is not his fault. The movies and the actors, especially in Jason X and JGTH were terrible. I would not fault Kane for that.

I would love to see what Kane would have done in JvF and if he would drop his apparent attitude towards “running”. I would love to see a crazed Kane as Jason running like the remake and II-IV. It is too bad we might never see that. One thing is for sure, Kane would have done a better job in JvF than that other guy. From reading Crystal Lake Memories, I wonder if Kane lost the job because of his inability to take direction. He frequently makes references (along with other directors) that he knows how Jason acts and moves and Jason “should” move that way. When you get a job as an actor, you listen to the director. Perhaps the director of JvF did not thing Kane would listen to direction?

Anyway, best Jason’s were Part IV, Part III and Kane independent of the movies he was in.

  17. white and brooker

  18. i like Ted white because he faced off with Joe Zito trying to protect the hot sexy women from the chilly cold. He seems like a gentleman, although all the Jason actors do. Ted is just old school and friggin’ cool

  19. Ted White hands down. Part IV is still the scariest of the series. Ari Whoozits just comes across as a douchebag to me for some reason.

  20. To say Kane was the only/first Jason actor to care about the role is BS. Every actor who put on the mask CARED about the role. Even though Ted White may have disliked the role, he cared about how he played Jason and did it as best he could- he was a professional. Sorry, it really makes me mad when people imply that Kane was the first person too are about the role. Nothing could be more wrong.

My favorite actor is probably a 3 way tie between Dash, Brooker and White.

  21. ..and you don’t think Steve Dash, Brooker, White, Morga and Graham did not take their roles as Jason seriously? That’s a freaking insult, my man- Dash almost lost his fingers and broke ribs because he put his ALL into the character. I’d say that’s taking his role seriously. White gave 110% in a role of a character that he despised. That alone shows that White has class- he did not slack and did the job great. That is taking the job seriously and professionally.

  22. Can’t help but admire Kane for the affection he holds for Jason and the franchise.Derek Mears and C.J Graham are the definite close seconds though……….KI,KI,KI,MA,MA,MA.

  23. I liked 7, I think it was more atmosphere wise though. Kane did perfect Zombie Jason but live Jason was Ted White.

  24. Ted White

  25. Ted White!!!!

  26. Kane all the way….His movies may not have been the best in the series but I love the look and the way he played jason…He gave jason a different look for 4 movies and tried to make it his own. I also believe that as all the other actors do love and care about jason none of them come close to how much Kane loves jason…IMO

  27. My vote is for Kane for zombie Jason and Ted White for live Jason.

It isn’t Kane’s fault he had to suffer through Manhatttan, Goes to Hell and Jason X (although I like the first hour or so of that one). He brought some great characteristics to the role.

Nobody did the heavy “sigh/breath” like he did; it was a nice touch.

  28. My favourite Jason´s are Steve Dash and Ted White.

And I agree with Jasontyo: Kane Hodder sucked as Jason!

  29. I have to go with Kane. I know Jason goes to hell wasnt all that good, but its not his fault they blew him up right at the beginning.

  30. MY favorite’s are Richard Brooker and Hodder. Can’t choose one. Sorry!

  31. The picture above reminds me in Da Vinci`s famous “the last supper” painting, with Jesus sitting in the center opening his arms that same way, surrounded by his disciples :)

    Mario

  32. Ted White.

  33. I can’t choose one, but my favorites are Steve Dash and Derek Mears. Both made the character come alive on the screen for me and added an intensity that hasn’t been matched

  34. Ted White. Hands down. No question. He was big, strong, brutal, and he was just coming for you!. I like most of them, but Ted is the definite winner for me.

  35. Hodder.

  36. Ted White!

  37. Brooker and White are my faves, for equally important yet varied reasons, but on an even keel. And I’d put Dash right behind them.

Brooker defined what Jason really COULD be. Completely and frighteningly methodical, utterly deliberate and supremely creepy (though admittedly, Dash started this characterization respectfully in Part 2 quite well, I just think Brooker’s portrayal furthered those aspects of the character even MORE and made them FULLY work).

White, on the other hand, made Jason what he SHOULD be. Fast, ferocious and full of unfiltered fury. His Jason, IMO, is easily the MOST memorable of them all, thanks to the animalistic way in which he moves and behaves, as well as how viciously he takes out his prey. And the kills in The Final Chapter really do seal the deal on how extreme White’s Jason feels opposed to the others in the series, comparatively speaking.

But I give equal kudos to Dash in truly starting what Brooker and White essentially perfected in their respective turns. That, and Dash was running through the fucking woods AT NIGHT with a bag over his head and nothing but one eyehole to see out of. That’s some real dedication to your craft right there.

  38. I don’t quite understand all the hating going towards Kane’s portrayal as Jason. Yeah, the movies he was in were kinda cheesy and he got into the series at the point when it was really just about making money for the film studios. That’s not his fault. I think he did a fine job as a zombied-out, walking corpse Jason. His character was a person who had been shot, stabbed, hung … you name it. I like how you watched Kane as Jason and u saw what looked like a man, but was completely devoid of humanity and that was because Kane made it so believable.

As far as my favorite Jason, i go with Richard Brooker in Part 3. Aside from the obvious affection i have towards this film since this is where Jason first dons the mask, like William B. said about Brooker he was incredibly creepy and so methodical in his portrayal; You were watching Jason as he was still in a human state but clearly psychotic almost like he was on absurd amounts of Ritalin. He stalked, he maimed, he chased and he kept on coming and coming. The way he scared the living daylights out of Dana Kimmell over and over again in the way he terrorized her, it’s Brooker all the way for me.

  39. Well I got to say all the actors that played Jason seem like cool guys…except Warrington Gillette for reasons all us Friday fans know why. But I would say Kane Hodder is My favorite. Hes like the only actor to almost kill himself several times while playing Jason (part 7) . Plus the way He plays Him is just scary. If there was a second place Id say Ted White because before part 7 He was the best and scariest Jason in the franchise. Which I think Derek Mears kinda borrowed for the remake.

  40. Deputy Winslow,

you somehow actually mentioned some aspects why I (and probably the others) dislike Hodder´s Jason: he lacked humanity.
Dash, Brooker, White, Graham, Kirzinger and Mears showed emotions and “soft weaknessess” like surprise, obediance, devotion etc in ther finale of Parts 2, 4 and the remake as well as the dream-sequence in FvsJ. Hooder didn´t portray the backwood hillbilly nor the “child in a man´s body”. He portrayed Jason as a random maniac who is just angry. He sdlowed down Jason and added the annoying heavy-breathing. That´s just not my cup of tea.
Sure it was not his fault that his F13th sucked (btw, I love Jason X) but I think a lot of people just like Hodder because of the make-up job in TNB!

  41. 1. Ted White
    2. Richard Brooker

  42. Germaniac,

I hear ya man, i just felt like with what Hodder was given he did his best. He was so far past dead i don’t see how charismatic or humane he could have been. Plus, the monotone angry zombie that Hodder played gave Kane the ability to put his stamp on the series and differentiate himself from the other versions of Jasons in the series, for better or for worse.

One thing i definitely have to say which you reminded me of is that in my opinion, Ken Kirzinger played probably the worst Jason of all the movies. He looked sad for most of the movie like he was just loafing around at least until the end sequence of the movie. After watching that movie i felt like i could have beaten up Jason, cause pretty much everyone in the movie laid a hit on ol’ Jason !

  43. Warrington Gillette was the first guy to play Jason as a killer and he set the precedent for all other Jasons that came after him. Anyone who says Gillette isnt the best is factually wrong.

Let me now say what I have to say about the other actors being mentioned here:

    1. Ted White – He was scary but not much different than Brooker’s Jason in Part 3. Both of them run and have the same mannersims. The main difference is with the make-up and finger nails. I think that Joseph Zito should be given more credit on making Jason a menace in this film because it was written so well. Otherwise, White was just ripping off Brooker who was in turn, RIPPING OFF WARRINGTON GILLETTE.

    2. CJ Graham – His fortune as Jason is that he was cast in one of the better written entries in the series. He was part of the effort that invented “zombie” Jason which was different and original. I will give him some of that credit. Second best Jason after Gillette.

    3. Kane Hooder – This guy does interview after interview about how he does a better job at being Jason than everyone who has done the gig since him. Do you know why he never talks about the ones that came before him? BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL BETTER THAN HIM, THAT’S WHY! He basically took what CJ Graham did and made a low quality xerox copy of it. The only thing Hooder added to the role was a shorter stature than previous actors. He also went along with the idea that Jason should talk in Part 8 which makes him suck more than the guys that came before him too.

  44. Top three would be Richard Brooker, Ted White and Derek Mears.

  45. 1.Kane Hodder. He made Jason even more intimidating and rage filled.
    2. C.J. Graham played an excellent rage filled and newly resurrected Jason
    3. Richard Brooker helped define the character
    4. Derek Mears made Jason even smarter than before.
    5. Ken Kirizinger fought Freddy
    6. Ted White looks like a young Regan and got killed by Feldman.

  46. nice to see you walmart man

  47. I agree to much hating on Kane. Although not my favourite Jason he was none the less a really good portrayal of Jason. I dont understand why everybody dislikes the undead jason. I always found it cool how undead jason shows that he is just an unstoppable killing machine even beyond the grave. It adds to the whole ”legend” of Jason.

  48. Man what’s with all the Kane Hodder haters? I’ve gotta go with Kane…although I loved Derek Mears in the new one and Ted White in part IV was the best out of the first six movies.

  49. Ted White then Richard Brooker, hands down, no contest, although, CJ Graham was very good aswell. i would rank Ari’s 5 seconds in the first one above anything that Kane Hodder did. no offense to Hodder, but he could have done so much better. lol, he is always huffing and puffing as Jason, but Jason is a zombie, why is he breathing??? lol

  50. Warrington gillette was easily the best Jason in the series, from crashing through the window with ease to running through the woods and taking a machete to his shoulder at the end. He almost lost a finger, and he easily looks the best with the sack over his head.

  51. Gay guy,

Gilette didn´t loose his finger in part 2 … but he lost his job! He played the unmasked Jason in the window-chrashing scene and got fired … Steve Dash took over and took all the abuse (broken rips, cut off fingers etc).

  52. first things first…….i CANT believe how many folk dislike Kane! he is the best! end of!!! Secondly….Warrington Gillete??? WTF??? he only played Jason in 1 scene where he crashes thru the window and attacks Ginny! and thirdy….Scab, i dont agree with you, but respect anyones opinion on F13. peace.

  53. Can someone list off the guys in the picture for me? I’m not clear on all of them. left to right this is my guess:
    1. C.J. Graham
    2. Steve Dash
    3. Richard Brooker
    4. Ted White
    5. Ari Lehman
    6. Dick Weiand
    7. Warrington Gillette (aka Walmart man)
    8. Kane Hodder
    Anyone know if I’m close??

  54. Steve dash is a liar, warrington told me himself he played Jason the whole movie. Dashawitcz is a liar who is trying to steal the credit and make money at conventions cuz he is broke. The credits say warrington played him and as we all know the credits are the final word. Sorry guys!

  55. Puckbunny,

the guys are from left to right:
    Steve Dash,Ken kirzinger,Richard Brooker,Ted White,Ari Lehmann,Dick Wieand,CJ Graham, Hodder.
The only “Jason” actor missing on that pic is Tom Morga (Dick Wieand doesn´t count as Jason in my book, since he never wore the mask AFAIK). I guess this pic was taken before the remake was shot, therefore derek Mears not on the pic.
Warrington Gilette is not on the pic since he really wasn´t Jason (despite all the things the trolls here might want you to believe).

  56. 1. Ted White, 2. Derek Mears, 3. CJ, 4. Kane Hodder (thank you guys for FINALLY realizing how overrated he was as Jason – I read these boards and it’s always the same, “Kane’s the best”, “Kane is Jason”. BS)

  57. Richard Brooker – after a knock-down drag-out war with Ted White.

  58. Kane Hodder

  59. CJ will always be my favorite Jason and part VI will always be my favorite movie

Next in line are Ted White, Kane Hodder and Derek Mears

  60. Ted White all the way. While i will say that all the actors/stuntmen to play jason all did a great job, i feel Ted White portrayed everything that is JASON. From the walking, to the running, to the psychological attacks and of course the tilt of the head while staring at tommy with the badass look of the bask just before we see the grusome yet most amazing facial look of jason in my opinion. While i have not met any of the actors in person, they all seem to have a genuine passion for jason in the interviews that they have done. So in closing i will say my vote is for Ted White.

  61. What is so bad about zombie jason?

Jason with “humanity” is leatherface. Watch the part in the new Friday when he is sharpening his machete and then starts smashing a metal tub off of a table. Wow did that suck. Thats something I never needed to see.

Early Fridays–you see Jason when he kills, with the occasional stalker shot through the trees. Great stuff. And whats great is that you don’t know anything but he kills people. Thats just what he does. I don’t care if he throws tantrums when no one is looking.

Kane Hodder, with that hulking, heavy breathing slow stalk is by far the best. In JGTH, when he misses the girl with the machete, and looks over the balcony, when he walks out the cabin door and when he walks up over a little hill as he’s chasing her are some of the best shots of Jason there have ever been. If you don’t believe me, go back and watch. It’s all on tape.

Kane also, in my opinion, cared about Jason before it was cool and profitable to care about Jason. I don’t blame the others for jumping aboard, but no doubt most are on the circuit for the $$$.

When they first pulled Kane, I remember quite a bit of people being upset. I guess its fashionable now to bash him. Oh well…

Kerzinger, by far the worst. By far!

  62. Jay,

Can I get a new Icon? Even the Walmart man has a cooler one than I do!

Idk if the Walmart man is a troll or not, but he’s damn funny.

  63. tie between Richard Brooker and Ted White

  64. Ted White and Derek Mears

  65. i am form china but i am very like jeson`s film
    that film is very good

  66. i think American Film is very good good .
by the way ..where can I buy old American Film DVD
    in the internet ?
    thanks a lot ..

  67. Thanks Germaniac! I really appreciate your help. What does your acronym AFAIK mean? Who Is Morga?

  68. okay so Morga is the guy behind the mask in part 5. Got it.

  69. Tom Morga played Jason and masked Roy in Part V. He also played Michael Myers briefly in Halloween 4 and stunts as Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw 2

  70. Halloween is good ,too

  71. That it is Joker that it is.

  72. I can’t choose just 1. My four favorites are Kane Hodder (7-X), Derek Meers (Remake), C.J. Graham (Part 6), and Ted White (Part 4).

  73. Excuse me what is your mean ? AOD

  74. excuse me . what about your think about Halloween between Friend 13th ?
people like see who in American?

  75. 1…2…FREDDY IS COMING FOR YOU??.
    3…4…BETTER LOCK YOUR DOOR???. .
    5…6…GRAB YOUR CRUCIFIX??????.
    7…8…GONNA STAY UP LATE??????.
    9…10…NEVER SLEEP AGAIN???????
    welcome to me world …
i play a little joke for us
    ha ha

  76. Joker you said Halloween is good too and I agreed.

  77. Jason did throw tantrums in Part 3, notice while he was looking for Chris in the barn.

  78. Exactly Scab! :)

  79. Yup, Scabby is right. This scene was also copied in the remake, when Jason was tipping the canoes at the camp. And THAT´s how I imagine a retarded momma-boy, who lives in the woods, adores his dead mother and kills in order to please her, would react when being upset.

“Jason with “humanity” is leatherface. Watch the part in the new Friday when he is sharpening his machete and then starts smashing a metal tub off of a table. Wow did that suck. Thats something I never needed to see.”
Well, THAT´s something I want to see again … because that´s what I saw in the first F13 movies. Jason was established as a very “emotional”, almost child-like character.

“Kane Hodder, with that hulking, heavy breathing slow stalk .”
Those stiff and slow movements are exactly the reasons why Hodder is my least favourite Jason. He turned Jason into a monster without personality IMO. But to each his own.

I won´t go into the “Jason cares about the character / the others just did it for the money” BS. Scab already said everything that needs to be said on that matter earlier.

  80. CJ Graham

  81. crystallakehiker09,
Send me an email and I can help you get a new avatar when you post. ;)

  82. I have liked every portrayal of Jason, except for Freddy vs Jason. Not that I think it was Ken’s fault, but more the vision that Ronny Yu had. I think Ken was told do this and go. Steve, Richard and Ted all brought something to the table that really defined the character, and they only had the last 20-30 minutes of a film to do it. CJ and Kane were on screen the entire film and really had to bring an extra dimension to the character.

Since Kane had four movies, he really had a chance to make the character his own and he really took that to heart. So, I agee with Scabby and Germaniac that Kane wasn’t the only one that had passion for the charatcter, but he was the one actor that had to carry the character for a long time. The fact that he embraced that charatcter and wanted to give the fans an awesome Jason, makes him my favorite actor to play the part. Plus I was also just starting to really get into the franchise at the point he took over the character, so my first real impression of Jason was Kane.

  83. Baz your nuts for not saying white is 1st or close second, Walmart man, Gillette was not the first person to play
jason it was Ari, as for answer to the question. Ted White and Brooker are a tie. Mears, Graham, and Dash come second, finally Hodder and Ari in third. Ken and Gillette should be removed from the book of Jason.

  84. Jason,
I am not questioning or bashing your opinion or your taste, but I have to comment on the reasons you just gave for liking Kane Hodder (because I interpret them a bit different) :
Roger Moore played Bond 7 times, more times than any other actor (if you don´t count “Never say never again”). Does that make him the best Bond? Are Dalton and Lazenby the worst because they only played bond once (resp. twice)? Many Bond fans (including myself) would argue different.
Is George W. Bush a better President than Jimmy Carter or Gerald Ford because he was longer in office?
    Quantity doesn´t mean quality.

About giving the fans an awesome Jason: He entered at part 7, being the 6th actor to play the adult Jason (if you count Tom Morga´s Roy) and completly changed Jason´s behaviour. He claims “Jason never runs” but Jason ran in 2-4 (and speed-walked in 6) .. he refused to kick the dog in JTM because “Jason wouldn´t o that” … but Jason killed Muffin in Part 2 (and probably other animals during his days in he woods). To me, that´s disrespect towards the character and not passion.

And about the screen-time (which is a matter of screen-writing, not acting) : I actually prefer to see less of Jason. Keeping him stalking in the shadows for the most part, only to be seen in full glory for the last twenty minutes is way more effective/scary than have him onscreen all the time. Same with the shark in JAWS.

  85. No worries, Germaniac. I am not saying Kane was the best Jason, but he is my favorite actor to play Jason. And that is from the respect I have for him wanting to play the part for as long as he did. I see where some of his comments with the running and what not rub fans the wrong way. His arrogance towards the part is also a big sticking point for people. I just think he played the part for so long he thinks he owns the part.

Me mentioning the screen time is actually a compliment to the guys in the first couple of movies as they had a smaller amount of time to bring the character to life and did an awesome job of doing so!

  86. Part 4 Ted White

  87. Jason kills…that’s what he is known for. Hodder did that the best. The sleeping bag kill is the best in the series. Germaniac, I am questioning your allegiance to the series…since you seem to criticize Hodder every chance you get. Are you doing this to be different? Hodder never disrespected the character…he only built on what was already there. It was an evolution of the character.

I met Hodder at a convention. He was totally cool and wasn’t a dick about anything. Warrington Gillette was asking people to buy his autographs for $20 each. It was shameless. Hodder was just cool the whole time. He is the best Jason on and off screen.

  88. I can’t help it. Though I think part 3’s Jason is the scariest and most emotional, and though part 2’s strikes the best balance between being stealthy and visceral, and though the remake’s is a terribly powerful presence and I freely admit to liking Hodder’s “dollish” take on Jason’s childishness (instead of looking like a big angry kid, I think he looks like a G.I. Joe in the hands of a big angry kid)… though I really like all of them…

…my favorite Jason is Ari! His “jumping out of the water” scene is classic, and even though he had a small part, I loved hearing how seriously he took it. Brooker is my favorite adult Jason, though. I love the way he moves.

  89. Ted White

  90. CJ!!!

  91. I vote for Kane Hodder and CJ gram. The best i would have to say Kane Hodder.

  92. Kane Brings On The Pain

    Hodder gets my vote

  93. All of the actors gave their own spin and /or take on Playing Jason. I liked Steve Dash, Richard Brooker, CJ, Derek Mears, and Kane Hodder….but I gotta go with Ted White….He moved better, ran better, and was scarier than everyone else. he turned down the role of Jason after part4 but i would have liked to see him play Jason again.

  94. Looks Like Ted White Won! As well he should have! Followed by Kane Hodder Richard Brooker CJ Graham and Steve Dash.

  95. “Germaniac, I am questioning your allegiance to the series…since you seem to criticize Hodder every chance you get. Are you doing this to be different? Hodder never disrespected the character…he only built on what was already there. It was an evolution of the character.”
[sarcasm]Yeah, I build two F13 fangames and been a member of the F13-online community for over 10 years … I really seem to have no allegiance with the franchise. And it´s a well known fact that you have to love “The new blood”, hate “jason X” and “Freddy vs Jason” to be a “true fan”. [/sarcasm].

What was there BEFORE Hodder stepped in: a runing Jason, an emotional Jason, a JAson that killed animals
What was gone when Hodder stepped in: a running Jason, emotions, the killings of animals … because Hodder thinks JAson wouldnt do that. But Jason DID just those things before he stepped in. How is “getting rid of somehing” “building on something”?

As this discussion shows: I am not the only one who dislikes Hodder´s Jason. Even if this was the case and I was alone: I don´t jump into a pit when everyone else does it! I admit that I am passionate in this discussion, but that´s because arguments like “Hodder is the only one who cared for the role, the others did it for the money” or “he respected the character” etc really piss me off because they are (IMO) far from the truth.
IF you like Hodder that´s fine. To each his own. But dissing the other Jason-aytors by saying they didn´t care, didn´t show passion etc or saying that Kane build on what the others already did really piss me of for the reasons that are already mentionend by me and others muliple times).

  96. A non running Jason was there before Hodder came into the picture.
CJ didn’t run as far as I can remember.

  97. I didn’t read through everything, but I saw where someone said that Kane’s movies were the lamest. That is not because of Kane. That opinion is based on the writing and directing. I’m not faulting Part 3 because I saw better acting from Paris Hilton than Dana Kimmell and Paul Kratka.

Kane probably loved the character more than the others, and is an all around nice guy from what I hear. I would vote for him. But that’s my opinion.

  98. Ted White…..Kane Hodder….Richard Brooker…..Derek Mears

  99. I would have to say that I liked Kane Hodders portray of Jason Voorhees the best. He brought a lot to the charactar, such as the really heavy breathing, the bad ass attitude, brutal kills, and the fact that Kane is freakin’ huge. All of this scared the hell out of me when i was a kid.

On the other hand, i think Ted White did a really great job and i beleive he took the role of Jason Voorhees the most serious…going to the extent to seperate himself from the rest of the cast, to stay in charactar, basically keeping himself a mystery, so the actors wouldn’t know what to expect. quite a unique idea. And I see now how this helped with the quality of all the kills. I just wish White would have came back to the series.

Nonetheless, my hat goes off the all the men who had the privilage to wear the iconic hocky mask…or sack!

  100. Wow! Not every man gets his sack refered to as iconic! lol.

  101. Kane Hodder is my vote by FARRRRRRRRR can we have a worst jason catagory. my vote for that would be Kirzinger

  102. Germaniac,

I wouldn’t get so pissed off about about what anyone says in a blog. It’s not worth it. And I liked your fangame, btw. I’m just saying, in the years before Kane was out promoting the character, I don’t remember anyone else doing it. I wasn’t paying as close attention back then, but I don’t remember ever reading an article about white, morga, etc., saying how much they loved it. I think you’d have to admit that now its a bit more lucrative to be able to say you played Jason.

Idk guys, in part 3 I thought he was just throwing stuff in the barn looking for her. The new Friday didn’t have him looking for anybody, he just flipped out. It totally viable if you like it, its just not to my taste.

Maybe, like Jasonsfury has noted, it depends on when you really started to watch the series. I got into it around Kane’s time, so he’s it for me. As far as the other Jasons go, I like them all very much. Except J v F, and I don’t think it was Ken’s fault either, that was just an awful interpretation by somebody, and unfortunately he’s stuck with it.

Thanks Jay, I will shoot you that email!

  103. Is anyone surprised that Derek didn’t show up more on this post? I skimmed it quickly, but was he’s anyone’s number one? He was a fun Jason too.

  104. My Favorite Jason as a Human was Ted White and as a Zombie Kane Hodder of course but I also loved CJ from VI

  105. oh–jimmy carter!!?!

hahah ANYBODY is better than that guy!!!!

Germaniac, I have a grad degree in poli sci, so I’ve got to tip my cap for dropping JC in a Friday convo, but he’s the worst!

  106. sorry to post again, I forgot to add this…

I agree that ALL the guys who played Jason really did a good job. Almost all actors are proud of their work, and usually give near 100% into what part they are playing. I guess I just feel that afterwards Kane was exceptionally proud that he played Jason, and wasn’t afraid to say as much.

  107. CJ all the way

  108. Kane Hodder is Jason. My votes for Kane

  109. Crystallakehiker09:

Kane Hodder went out and promoted the character, BECAUSE the guy was asked to come back to reprise the role multiple times. Let me ask you this, if your employer decided that they weren’t going to retain you, would you be out promoting their product? I’m guessing not… Kane also got to play the character when Fanzines and Horror Conventions were at an all time high. Hence, there was a monetary incentive to go out and meet the horror public. Kane Hodder might not charge for an autograph, but these individuals get paid for an appearance fee.

Now, let’s get to the reasons why people take exception to Kane Hodder. Number one, MOST Friday The 13th purists have a general disconnect with every movie post Part V. Secondly, Kane Hodder played Jason quite differently, and for many it just didn’t live up to the standard of a Richard Brooker or Ted White. Third Kane Hodder has convinced a large number of fans that his way of playing Jason, is the only way Jason should be/should’ve been played. So, you shouldn’t be surprised that there is a love/hate relationship with this guy. For the life of me, I don’t know see why there should be any love for him, but he seems to have a fanbase. Lastly, I will say this, Kane Hodder is own worst enemy. Kane is the ultimate blowhard, who likes to throw previous actors who played Jason under the bus.

  110. Give me Ted White, but Richard Brooker as a close second.

  111. Had to reply to this one too Cullen. Kane wasn’t asked back for Jason Takes Manhattan. He found out that they were filming Part 8 in Canada and were going to use another guy from the area. He called the producers and expressed his interest in reprising the role. They were surprised he wanted to do the movie again and eventually agreed to bring him back.

No other actor went to that extent to reprise the role. That’s why he has the following that he does. He wanted to own the character and after playing Jason for 12 years, he did get an ego. If you thought you were the only person who knew your job in a company, you would think you knew how to do it better than anyone? Not saying he’s right, but that’s the way he feels. That shouldn’t deter people from liking his performance of a character.

I love Ted and Richard’s performances. The Final Chapter is my favorite movie of the franchise. But I commend Kane for really wanting to be involved in the movies and the character. The other guys played the character and then moved on to other things without hesitation.

  112. Richard Brooker. Loved his take on the character.
