Ultimate Edition Fan Edit for The Final Chapter

finalchapIf you head over to Scab’s Friday the 13th and Horror Blog you can find out the details on how you can download his fan edit of The Final Chapter. I have seen his individual scene edits and they looked really good. I can imagine he put some good amount of work into pulling this edit together. Check out his edit and let him know what you think. I am sure that praise will be something he will be more than willing to accept.

Here is a list of what his edit of the film will look like.

Jason tears down Jimbo’s body from inside of the house.

Added gore/alternate gore angles:

-Axel’s death has more blood.

  1. That sounds cool.

  2. I’m interested to see how they do it since the alternate ending had no sound. Did they get some good imitators and sound effects or just leave it as is? I’d love to hear a good loop job.

  3. i’m very anti-torrent after some bad experiences with them in the past, so unfortunately i won’t be checking it out.

i’m working on my own edit with nothing but extended gore scenes, cause that’s all i really want. it’s turning out great. i’m looping some of the music to fill in the blank spaces and shortening things like the shot of the aerobics video on tv to show more of the coroner’s death. aside from color differences (which i’ll work on later), it looks great. you can zoom them to the same aspect ratio and it looks right.

what’s great about these slashed scenes is you can actually match up right to the frame the parts right after they cut away in the r-rated version and extend many of the shots. it’s all there. i can’t believe we have all of this footage after all these years of people saying we were crazy for thinking it existed.

i’m even taking some liberties and adding in shots that may not have been the director’s intention to use, like the above shot of the chick on the raft…because i just love her ass so much!!

  4. Dont be anti-torrent. Bittorrent is the best thing to ever happen to file sharing. TPB FTW! I find torrents to be much more legit than the crap people find on the p2p networks.

Cant wait to see the extended scenes, id never have the patience to do an edit like that.

  5. Torrents are lame and were superseded by file storage websites like Rapidshare and Megaupload eons ago.

  6. i will wait for the tommyblah version. it sounds like a lot of care is going into it. that chick’s ass IS really nice. But is it real? Didn’t they do a full body cast? Not that it matters. It still is her ass after all; in Axel’s words, “All ya gotta do is go over there, take off your…” Nice talk real nice talk. I get the top copy.

  7. i look forward to watching it, too. started the download already and i gotta know why it has to be an entire 4+ gigs in size. it’s in a rar archive, so i have no idea what the file format is. im hoping that someone converts it down to a smaller size, perhaps i will when i get ahold of it and repost it.

  8. I did something similar to this with Part 2. The VHS cut that I have at home has every scene with Steve Dash cut and replaced with me in the potato sack mask. Since I couldn’t afford to hire real actors for my new scenes, I just created a bunch of cardboard cutouts (from Kinkos) with their liknesses and redid the scenes by myself. I used the same sound from the movie by recording it from the TV to a tape recorder. When I did the scenes, I would just play replay the sound effects from my tape recorder and put it close to the camcorder. It turned out pretty top notch if I do say so myself.

Has anyone seen that scene from Napoleon Dynamite where Uncle Rico records himself playing football? Well, that image is sort of a crude example of what I did.

  9. Walmart Man, I would totally watch that…..but ONLY if there was a commentary by you.

  10. To be totally honest here this is quite illegal unless you have the original film. This is not public domain. I am all for fan edits, but you gotta be VERY careful.

  11. psh, what are they gonna do, arrest all of us? doubt it. that would be like busting all the pot smokers or nailing every speeder at once. hell, media sharing has finally opened some eyes to the fact that people WILL download media for free and without any hint of personal guilt, so we are starting to see accommodations to make it even more convenient for someone who might not have a TV service to stream any show via HULU. you still have to see ads on there, but it\’s only one small ad per commercial break and the movies are uncensored. the market accommodates, gentlemen. download this edit of the best friday that was ever made (imo). download it, enjoy it, and show some love to scabboy and let him know how greatful you are for the work put into this project because you know Paramount isn\’t gonna do it for you.

  12. i will have to check this out soon, ive never done any of this filesharing before, i did pick up a bootleg of friday 4 years ago on vhs with some of these scenes added back in, interested to see what it looks like dvd quality.

  13. The Walmart man is THE best.

  14. unfortunately it is true that you can get into some trouble putting this stuff out there…though they haven’t cracked down on torrents yet. paramount is very hostile when it comes to their property.

i apologize if i’ve gotten anyone’s hopes up with my talk about my cut, but i won’t be selling it or making it available in any way…though i will grab a few excerpts and put them on youtube so you guys can see how freaking cool it looks. the preliminary cut i have right now is SOOO sweet. i just need to get better at making color correction effects with windows movie maker.

oh yeah & peter, it is her real butt in the above shot..they only use the cast for the other angle. she is so hot. i made her death extra long and added music to give it kind of an epic feel. she deserves it. i absolutely love her.

walmart man, you are the man. if you can get paramount to release a special edition with that cut, warrington gillette may finally get the credit he deserves.

  15. To Nosferatu, Eagle Eye, and tommyblah,

I really appreciate your positive support. Thanks for believing in me when so few in this world actually do.

I think my favorite scene in my cut is how I redid the wheelchair death from Part 2. Instead of just seeing the guy get whacked in the face with a clever and then rolling backwards down the stairs, you actually get a second shot of me doing a spinning back kick on his face to drive the clever futher into his skull. In my version, it’s the force of this kick that actually sends him down the stairs backwards.

to see the los ending of friday the 13 part 4 and YOU JASONFURY are a COOL friend to me

  17. Just got the fan edit. Format is.mpg.

  18. well tommy, if you won’t be sharing your version of the flick, I guess I won’t be sharing my chocolate bar with you. I will just share it with Robin and Violet, and maybe Vick. Let me know of any YouTube postings. I’ve had no luck downloading the torrent. I’m too retarded for that type of thing. Maybe I will make my own cut someday.

I watched the killer cut of part 12 trying to like it. It is a major upgrade from what I remeber from the theater. What I don’t like about the reboot is that it seems to take place in this sort of fantasy realm. People go to the town, they dissapear, law enforcment is pretty much compliant. It reminds me a bit too much of Texas Chainsaw. A whole group of campers dissapears (what campers have you ever known with fake boobs?) and the parents decide to ‘look somewhere else’?? Wouldn’t they have discovered that house in their investigation maybe? Along with the ‘mine shaft’. ????? I’m not saying there’s anything particularly wrong with it, but it doesn’t remind me of the original series where it was a killing spree that was on the news and that no one could stop. There are some reality issues with that too, but I liked the vibe better. All in all, I enjoyed the movie. What I would like to see next is just a straight remake of part 2, but leave the hockey mask on him, and rate it NC-17 and show all the kills as they were meant to be.

  19. anyone care to make me a copy i would pay or tell me how to convert to a file i can burn on dvd???

  20. just watched the edit. awesome job. the extra angles and gore made it so much better.

  21. Most of the cuts on this were done pretty well but others were jump cuts and weren’t needed (Paul’s death with the pretty much pointless jump for a split second only to reveal the wire, for example). The dream sequence worked surprisingly well with the “Sail Away, Little Sparrow” music from the first film. Not sure if it totally works once we see the water dripping and Trish goes upstairs, but for the surprise it delivers the goods. I should work on an edit now that I have all this footage. The TV stuff is mostly rough. Does anyone have a better source? Thanks a lot for doing this! Believe it or not, this is my first viewing of a few of those scenes!

  22. Jason’s death was awesome in this version. I almost felt bad for the guy. Also Doug’s death was as horrifying as it should have been. If I had to complain, which I shouldn’t, I wish more of the death scenes had been extended and not just recut with bloodier scenes. I know this is difficult to do and requires trying to loop the music in a realistic way etc. I think this was done on some of the later deaths, however. Definitely fun to see

  23. well guys, here are my cuts of the kills.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiOWadeCZZc

i tried to color correct them the best i could but of course the pros have shading and highlighting tools that cost thousands…i did my best with what i have.

the only other thing i added was the shot of jason wiping off the butcher knife in the kitchen, which i didn’t feel was worth showing here.

it seems like scabboy tried to use everything they gave us, but as Joe Zito says in the commentary, most of it is outtakes and not meant for the final cut. i tried to really make it the way he would have wanted it. …except for sam’s death, i really over-extended that one and gave it the epic death music because i just love her so much.

let me know what you think!!!

  24. It looks amazing. Are these outtakes included in the deluxe edition for The Final Chapter?

  25. thx! yeah they’re outtakes but you’ll notice that for almost every kill there’s one shot with a little jump in it, which is the half-second or 1 second of it they used in the film…so you can grab the remainder of the shot and connect it with what’s in the film. that’s what i did. they pretty much give you every scrap of film that wasn’t used in this movie…it’s a very good release.

  26. JESUS. Tommyblah, I am going to be sick! These kills are GREAT. NICE EDITING JOB!!! I’ve been waiting 20 years for this. I was really squirming around watching these. Going to go watch them again now. Thanks for this treat!

  27. tommyblah,

I don’t remember the last time I saw The Final Chapter and actually felt sorry for Jason’s victims. Thanks to your cuts I just did. Good Job!

  28. Great work, guys! Again, if anyone has better source TV footage, please respond, because I’d like to make my own ultimate cut to share with you all. I have a degree in film, Final Cut Pro, and some good audio skills. I’d love to fix up the music to the best of my ability for these death scenes as well as work on all sound effects for the cut ending. Even without new TV scenes, I can use the current ones. Hopefully I can find the time. It’s a fun project.

  29. i am downloading it through utorrent i am only at 30% through 7 hours it that normal i have dsl internet???

  30. I’m a dumbass so I am going to ask the stupid question: How are people doing this to flics? Photoshop or something?

  31. there are some consumer level cpu programs where you can digitize the movies and edit them on a timeline. there’s a track for editing the video and 2 or more tracks for the audio. Then you can export to a preferred file type.

adobe Premiere is one such program, but I haven’t used anything like this for ages and there may be cheaper apps from Best Buy at this point

  32. i used windows movie maker…comes with windows free, and you can render all the way up to HD quality. however movie maker isn’t all that flexible so you have to write .xml code to zoom it right, adjust colors, and stuff like that. i’m a programmer and took some vid production classes in college, so it’s not that tough for me. there are a million other programs out there that can do it easier. then you gotta be tricky at looping the sounds and adding in music from other parts of the movie and stuff.

you’ll also need to get a program to get it off the dvd and onto your computer…i just used a free trial of something offline..i think dvd magic or something. but don’t let it convert the file for you–it’ll decrease the quality. have it just decrypt it and save the raw files to your computer, then drop them in movie maker and ‘publish movie’ as something at a very high quality…then use that file for your editing. that way you don’t lose as much when you do zooming effects.

  33. You know that with the great work Scab and Tommy have been doing recutting this film, Paramount must have a way to do this themselves using similar methods and able to clean up the rough spots. I do foresee an ultimate edition of this film in the future being released by paramount.

  34. Just watched the fan-edit of Scab’s and it’s great. One or two killings were a little rough around the edges, because I missed cool footage that was in Tommy’s clip or even in the theatrical edit, and I also could have done without some of the TV-footage, but overal I had a blast and it was a small dream come true (especially the ending with added music and sound effects). This is one of my favourites and finally watching it uncut in that great of quality was amazing! I ordered the Deluxe Edition, but haven’t received it yet but the footage that Tommy and Scab used looks in incredible shape. If they can do it, than I’m sure that Paramount also can do it. If they can’t do it for other parts, then I’m sure it’s just a small effort for Part 4. Maybe for Blu-ray? Maybe mails and petition can help?

  35. anyone make a fan-edit of part 6?? the footage for that one is a bit disappointing…is there anything on the special edition that isn’t on the boxset?

they say 3 versions of every kill was shot for that one – PG-13, R, & “X” – PG-13 was what was used for the theatrical and I think the boxset included the R kills. i guess the X ones were destroyed.

  36. thanks for the praise on the edits, btw.

  37. Totally the best horror film ever
and totally the best edition.. to bad it wasent more speciall stuff in it

    sorry about my bad english

  38. I downloaded Scabby’s fan edit. It was great stuff. The inserted kill and gore scenes look awesome. I wish he would have left out the grainy tv stuff. It look pretty bad, not his fault, but didn’t fit too will with the otherwise high quality. I know you sometimes hangs out on the Deadpit forums, he should let CK and UB know about this.

One question; How do I burn this to DVD. It looks great on the PC, but when I put the MPEG into convertx2DVD it tells me that the file will be just over 2gb on the media. I don’t want to loose over half the file size on the conversion.

  39. are you using vista?…if so there’s a program called windows DVD maker that will burn without impairing quality at all…unless its in hi-def, it will just make it standard DVD quality..real easy to use, and it lets you make a menu and stuff very easily. i don’t know if XP has it, but it’s kind of like a tie-in with windows movie maker when you export…i know XP has movie maker.

  40. I have downloaded the fan edit but the pc just recognizes the format as .file and i cant play it. does anyone know whats up?
i have renamed the file to final-chapter.mpg and the icon changed but nothing happends?

  41. i just watched the scabs edit last night with my homies and it was definitelly like watching a new movie. some scenes were just in excellent shape and i so sure would like them added to the blu-ray release of the film if thats going to happend. the edit was very well done, and the alternate ending was fantastic. Now i will have hard time watching this movie in its official release. Please make 2 versions of this when hitting on boxset or blu-ray!

  42. The download won’t work…it freezes half way through…I must see it…make it work please!
