Wanting It All: The Axe Face From ‘The New Blood’

This kill is affectionately called a more personal name by many in the Friday the 13th community. However, no matter what different name you know the kill by, the reaction is the same amongst fans and that is the uncensored kill is much more graphic and enjoyable to watch. It is a morbid statement, but Friday fans want more carnage and gore to satisfy their cravings. That being said, the behind-the-scenes action on-set paints the picture the fans want to see.

While the images of the axe face kill show a more crisp and clear idea of what the make-up looked like for the kill, the raw footage of the kill that was featured on the 2024 box set From Crystal Lake to Manhattan as well as the 2024 Deluxe Edition DVD is awesome as shown in the video compilation below.

In all, the Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood is a great entry in the series, but leaves the audience experience empty due to the MPAA cuts. If fans could get the unedited version of the film they want and deserve, you could see The New Blood skyrocket to the Top 3 in many fans’ lists of the best in the Friday franchise. The axe face kill is a personal favorite of this writer and I hope one day the raw footage can be cleaned up and made into a usable print for home viewing!

  1. I believe John Buechler calls it “coochie face”. And I agree, the unedited kill is beyond awesome much as the rest of the original kills that got raped by the MPAA. Maybe one day We’ll get an unrated version and see part 7 the way it was meant to be seen. Thanks for sharing the pics.

  2. Kane is such a douchebag with his “Jason doesnt run” nonsense. I normally have no problem with him i just think the more he pushes that myth the more he looks like a jerkoff to fans who care.

  3. jasontyo,
Where in this post or in the comment above was Kane brought up at all?? He is not even part of this discussion and you go and bash the poor guy. I don’t understand the hatred towards him? He doesn’t think Jason runs. Not a big deal.

We shall see. And no problem with the pics. Hope everyone who has not seen some of these enjoys.

“What we have here, is a failure, to communicate” ;)

Yeah. Poor Kane get’s bashed way too much. I mean was I a big fan of Kane? No. I was when I was younger, considering when I was younger I liked the Zombie Jason (to a degree). But I’m a 1-5 Fan so that’s the only problem I have with him.

BUT, for playing a “Zombie” Jason, Kane did a wonderful job. Not to mention he is just a wonderful guy and he is SOOO fan friendly.

(Sorry for continuing the Kane conversation in a non Kane thread, but I felt your anger and confusion as well).

  5. I think jasontyo was refering to the commentary in the video where Kane was talking, and said Jason doesn’t run. Not taking sides, just pointing that out.

But on topic, i would love to see part 7 with the uncut kills, just makes it that much enjoyable and shows the brutallity that is Jason!

  6. The MPAA screwed this movie over big time. They really should release a 2 disc version of this film and give the fans what they are craving. I know I’d love to have it myself.

  7. Just a bit of trivia about this scene: The stand-in with the make-up appliance on (complete with bad wig) is the film’s producer, Iain Paterson.
