Friday Conversation: Tina’s Body At The House Entrance
Survivors or Final Girls always end up finding the dead bodies of their friends towards the end of Friday the 13th films. Finding these bodies really is one of the foundations of the franchise as well as any good slasher movie. Every film in the Friday series has these “discovery” moments and they really are a lot of fun to witness the character’s reaction as well as see the aftermath of a certain character’s death.
Sometimes, however, the discovery of a body just does not make any sense. This can be from a logistical standpoint of where a body is placed to how a body can be triggered to fall or appear at just the right moment when a final character is passing by. Such a moment happens in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. After Rob is attacked in the basement of the party house, Trish runs up the stairs of the basement and tries to run out the front door. Her attempt is thwarted by the discovery of party twin Tina’s dead body at the foot of the doorway outside.
The question is this, how did Jason move Tina’s body to the doorway outside of the house, when Trish and Rob walked through the doorway to enter the house minutes before and Jason was in the basement turning the power off to the house and waiting for Rob to come downstairs?
My theory is that there was an outside door to the basement. I believe Tommy used it to check the lights didn’t he? Or did they show how he got to the basement? I seem to recall he used an outside entrance. While Trish and Rob are going through to house to the basement, they are moving quite slowly, I think Jason had ample time to get Tina in place and still slip unnoticed back into the basement from outside while this was happening. My theory.
Yea, I have alwayswondered about this. And we though Jason teleported? Now his victims are too. I think that in this case, the filmmakers missed the mark on this detail and just wanted to get a body by the door so Trish would have to run to the back of the house.

I agree with Colin. Most basements have another exterior entrance, and being as Trish and Rob were moving through the house very slowly, I’m sure Jason had time to get in and out of the basement to set the place up so to speak. lol That’s how I always assumed it was possible.
However, I will agree that it’s very goofy that in some of the movies a body will come falling out of a tree at just the right time to scare the crap out of us and the Final Girl (Parts 1 and 3 are the ones that come to mind immediately). But hey, if we’re watching a movie like this then we have no choice but to suspend our disbelief. :p
First of all, I wouldve just jumped over Tinas body and continued to run. But I guess it freaked Trish out. One thing about Jason in part 4 is Hes way more smarter, and does alot of “body moving” with the victims. Take Doug. When Sara finds His body, Hes kind of hanging over whats left of the shower door. Then later when Trish finds Him, Hes hanging on the wall like a coat. Ive thought about the blooper with Tinas body not being present when Rob and Trish arrive at the house. Jason is just very quick and I believe He moved it somehow while Trish and Rob were in the house. Ted White really brought some intellegence to the character. He cuts the power, the phone lines, and through most of the film he moves like a ghost up until the final battle anyway. I try to imagine Jason scaleing the house to get outside Tinas window. Definately what inspired Derek Mears as Jason. Ted White was definately His inspiration. In The Final Chapter and the remake, Jason is more like Rambo. And another thing, with Jimbo I swear He goes back and stabs Him some more, then He crucifies Him. I remember seeing that part as a kid for the first time, man that gave me chills. Jason was cool in part 3, but Ted Whites Jason is far more superior than Richard Brookers Jason. The thing about FT13th bloopers, is there are many throughout the series, even the later ones. I find it fun to point out all the bloopers, its like a bonus to watching my favorite horror series. Anyway awesome topic.
Yeah the part where Jimbo was “crucified” was always cool/eerie.

I am gonna go with the outside door to the basement, makes sense and most homes have them, especially out where you would need a storm shelter or something. I have no problem with their being a secret tunnel entrance though, I thought it was a cool idea.
I gotta go with celler doors on this one. It’s impossible to know for sure just how big the party house’s basement is. I think Jason could have cut the power to the house, went out the celler doors, moved the twin and Jimbo’s bodies and went back down into the basement and waited for Rob to come back.
Also as a side note, I have to agree wholeheartedly that The Final Chapter Jason was the smartest killer in the series, plus he just knew where to place the dead bodies in order to scare the heroine. The Final Chapter was the best Friday. This was the one movie that had a perfect blend of everything we’ve come to look forward to in a Friday film.
Very similar to the rake pinned up against the back door of the Wallace house in HALLOWEEN.
