Don’t Panic, Jason Voorhees Will Be Back Again!
Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes had been answering a lot of questions on his Twitter account and yesterday through to today he has been throwing around the word “dead” in relation to the Friday the 13th sequel. Bloody Disgusting has picked up on this fact and ran a short story about it tonight. So, in order to ease everyone’s minds, I wanted to post an update to this story and let you know that “dead” does not mean “never”. If you visit this site on a regular basis, you now that we keep you up-to-date on anything with the sequel that is going on. For everything we have found and posted past to present check out our sequel coverage.
Our last sequel update gave a pretty clear indication of one very good reason that the sequel is not happening. So, until we and the rest of the horror community hear more definitive answers, a new Friday the 13th is definitely in limbo until Warner and Paramount settle with each other and agree to say go. However, everyone here knows that there will be another Friday the13th movie. It is just a matter of time before Jason is slashing his way through theaters again!
That is quite comical as I and the other visitors to this website have been reading about this for months from your site. We have known all about PD and Fuller not able to make this movie. You guys just posted a few days ago about why they probably were not going to make this movie.
You know, I just went to Dread Central and they had the same news story. It’s like One news source saw “dead” on Twitter as was stated above, and everyone in cyberspace paniced. If you visit this site and are a Friday the 13th fan, then you are already in the know. Thanks for keeping us up on the news!
No problem, David. It is a bit comical, as you mentioned. I know that we get a fair amount of visitors to our website here and I hope everyone that does visit reads up on our stories about the sequel. I am a bit surprised that the major horror websites all have a shocked feeling. We have known about this movie being in limbo for a good couple of months now. It is very strange.

I too thought the movie was at a halt for the time being because of what was reported here the day before. Getting a no is a tad more definitive, but I think everyone here was pretty much prepared for the fact that the sequel was delayed inevitably.
i hate this. The same happened to fvsj sequel. rights or not we won’t get this movie. and that sucks!
As is with any franchise, as long as this one is profitable there’ll be more Fridays. Hollywood is rife with examples of “milking the cow” to “beating a dead horse”. Jurrassic Park should’ve stopped with the second one but we hear rumblings about a fourth and even a fifth installment. Then there are series that should just stay dead like “Beathoven”(?) and “Amityville Horror”(the original straight to video installments). As long as Mr. Voorhees can bleed money from theatres or even straight to video(parish the thought!), we’ll see him again.

Yea, he is confirming that he and Platunum Dunes are no longer involved with the movie. And as I stated above and reported days ago, it seems a though we are talking about a rights issue between Paramount and Warner Bros. And I only say that as Brad Fuller himself mentioned that a few days ago. Plus, this is nothing new to us as they have been reporting the delay on this movie for over a month and a half.

I am not worried. Saying there will never be another F13 movie is like saying there will never be another James Bond movie. come on, how many movies have 12 sequels? this franchise can never die.

I’m so majorly bummed out!!! I was hoping to hear that F13 was getting a greenlight soon. Bummer. Hopefully someone steps up and gets this movie rolling whether it be Friday Part 13 or Part 2. I’d rather see one final movie with the Friday The 13th: Part 13 title. LOL. It would rule. I hope this happens and not in 10 years.

sorry but it does make me angry, the fans come second when this sort off thing happenes. One comapny and the film would be given the green light!!

Cat… Unfortunatly thats the name of the game. They are out to make money not to make the fan happy, becuase afterall they know fans will see the movie even know they have been told it sucks from someone else. It’s just buisness.
I figured the series was gonna get a reboot. Now it seems like New Line and Platinum Dunes just wanted the quick $$$$. I wish Paramount would get full control and bring Jason back. It was set up for sequel, wasn’t it? Evil never dies
Relax everyone! All this means is that Platinum Dunes won’t make another Friday the 13th. You can’t ignore a $40 million opening weekend for a $19 million movie. Almost $100 million worldwide total. Then add in cable tv, video rentals, sales, etc. Too much money to pass up.
Also, whoever makes the next one, won’t have to pay Michael Bay anything.

There’s nothing to worry about here he will be back, maybe not for now, but sometime in the future I’m sure we will be seeing more of Jason.

Yeah, just let someone else pick this up & keep Bay & his PD faaaaarrrrr away from it. I may get shit for what I’m about to say but I don’t even like what he did w/ Transformers but I grew up w/ the 80s cartoon which IMO will never be surpassed. Back to F13th, I like the idea of Paramount getting the rights back again because I don’t feel New Line really did a decent job with the series. I almost feel like they killed it until the remake, reimaging, whatever you want to call it, but that was with Paramount’s help. I guess sometimes you have to go back to where it started to FINALLY get it right!
Platinum dunes sucks at making horror movies…they need to stop anyway. Maybe try kids movies? I mean tjey cant make anything scary at all!

Fuller talked at his press junket for the new Nightmare On Elm Street about the Friday sequel and basically rehashed what has already been mentioned to this point. The studios are still debating on making the movie and the script called for some of the movie to be in the snow.
We will let you know when new information is made available. Something hopefully in the summer or even sooner!

I am not sure what good it will do right now, but iif nothing is done this yeear, then perhaps a petition would be a great idea!
There was already a petition started for the box set we wanted, so why not a petition for the sequel.
OK I guess we chill for a few months and see whst they do!! then we petition the hell out of them!
I’ll sign the petition… Hell, I love writing, Paramount and New Line, FUCK Platinum Dunes, I can write a script for the new Friday movie, keep the remake, I can write a script, while fixing everything that Bay messed up on the 1st one. I liked the remake, I really did, but there was a lot of stuff that still was wrong with it. Let me do the writing, and we will see around 3 or 4 more Jason’s where he is running through the woods, killing anything that enters his wilderness.
Bay did get one important thing down, Human Jason rules, and we should see more of him than Zombie Jason this time around in the series. Pick me Paramount and we will see atleast 4 more Human Jason movies. Hey, what could go wrong?
