Friday the 13th Blu-Ray “Triple Slash Pack”

I recently found this Region B Blu-Ray Triple pack and I think it’s awesome! The set contains Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part 3, and Friday the 13th (2009). It’s cool to see Paramount able to release these movies together in one pack. You can watch some vintage Friday the 13th and see how the movie was reimagined for today’s audiences.

One thing about this pack that I do not like is that the reboot is referred to as Friday the 13th Part 12. I know that this was covered in another blog, but the movie is a reboot not part 12 of anything. Is the reboot to Texas Chainsaw being referred to as Texas Chainsaw Massacre 5? No. Anyways, rant over. ;)

In regards to Region B, this region includes releases from Europe, Australia and New Zealand. According to Blu-Ray Region Codes, Friday the 13th Part 2 and 3 are typically Region free and so I would assume the reboot is as well. 1. If only it had part 4, it would be the best set so far. Maybe still is. However I wanna see from crystal lake to manhatten plus the remake and the remake sequel in one boxset. Let’s forget about parts 9, X, and VS.

  2. It would be great, but you’ll never see all of the movis in one set in US or anywhere else. In the US, Paramount holds the home movie distribution rights for 1-8 and the reboot is distributed through New Line/Warner bros. In pretty much all other countries the original Friday the 13th is distributed by Warner Bros., and Part 2 through 8 is Paramount, along with the reboot.

Things could change and Paramount or Warner Bros. could relinquish control of their rights. Then we’ll have them all together!

  3. That’s the day we are ALL looking for. It will happen.

  4. I love that it’s Part 12… because I want the next one to be Part 13. For me, the line between sequel/remake/reboot is much blurrier than it seems to be for others. I remember how sequels used to bring out the strong opinions that remakes do today. Just another entry in the series for me, though I prefer the continuing elements that sequels more often have.

However, as for all of them being in one boxset–Warner Brothers and Paramount have some new agreement–otherwise, we wouldn’t have had the Warner/intl. cut of Part 1 released by Paramount on blu-ray in the U.S., and we wouldn’t have seen Warner/New Line release a Jason movie with the title Friday the 13th. Right? So, depending on the particulars of their agreement (or any future arrangements), we could see a complete box set one day. I think it’s a little unlikely, but not so much as it was just a few years ago. Personally, I am ok with 1-8 in a separate set and the rest in another, as they are so different to me.

  5. My fan side is urging me to buy this just because the remake is labeled as pt 12. I know I will probably never be able to watch it, even though that doesn’t matter since I have the US release.

Maybe I’ll just wait til someone releases a custom cover that labels the remake as pt 12.

  6. NO. it is a crime that they called it part 12. freddy vs jason is not friday the 13th part 11. it’s nightmare on elm street pt 8. the portrayal of jason is completely detached from friday the 13th 1-X and all plot and subplots revolve around freddy and his territory.

it is cool to see these packaged together, but i wish everyone would stop sucking fvj’s dick and realize it was an insult/mockery of f13th at best.

  7. It’s the 12th movie with Jason in it… no one’s sucking FvJ’s dick, we are just not invalidating the movies we don’t like… I don’t skip Jason X, and it’s pretty far from a Friday the 13th movie… so’s Jason Goes to Hell… you are only saying it’s not part 11 because FvJ could actually fit into another franchise… doesn’t mean it’s not still the 11th Friday the 13th/Jason movie, and it doesn’t mean other people love the movie just because they count it as part of the franshise (much less because they call the remake part 12). Who cares anyway… last I have to say on it… bring on part 13!

  8. Now if Paramount would only get off their asses and release Parts 4-8 on Blu! Pisses me off to know end that they haven’t released these yet!

  9. lol parts 2,3 and….12
