Friday the 13th (1980) Press Book

_fridaypresbookcoverI really love press books from the franchise. The book for the original is great, not just for looking at the different size ads, but for the actor mini-biographies that are printed inside. I think it’s  fun to read what these actors and actresses were involved in before performing in Friday the 13th. I like Kevin Bacons bio, which included his filmography to that point; Animal House, Captain Avenger and The Career Game.

The other fun part of the book, at least for me, is the different sized marketing ads that could be used for newspaper or magazine promotion. It’’s always a fun time looking at these old pieces of memoribilia and in some respects informative.

  1. I think I’ve seen these somewhere before.

  2. very cool. Do we still have these things when movies are released? They’re like concert programs.

  3. I don’t think they make press books in this form anymore. I am not positive though. I just haven’t seen these in a while. When I use to run a theater, our corporate office would receive these and then prep the ads for the local papers. I would only see these occasionally, but that was years ago.

  4. Mrs. Voorhees is a local resident whose property borders that of Camp Crystal Lake? Really? I’m guessing that bit of info must’ve been left on the cutting room floor.
