Roy Lifecast From “A New Beginning”

I came across this photo at Your Props.com and I think it would be great to own this piece of the franchise. This was made for the original death scene where Roy was to have his head decapitated, however, he filmmakers decided to have Roy impaled on the spikes at the foot of the barn instead. The owner claims “this is the only “New Beginning” lifecast of imposter roy that exists outside of 2 foam castings made for the film.” If so, this is indeed rare to own.

  1. In the movie, whay did they cast his face? They could have just got the actor to do it.

This is a cool find though, thanks for posting it.

  2. I believe Justin at Night Owl owns it and is doing a Roy bust, endorsed by Dick himself.

  3. or owns “one” of them…

  4. Awesome Scab. Thanks for the info.

  5. I don’t know anything about barns, but why is there a random bed of spikes outside the one in the movie? What purpose could that possibly serve? I know this isn’t very relevant, it just bugs me.

  6. The reason the face is cast is because, originally, he was going to be decapitated at the end and his head was going to roll. Not sure where I got that fun fact from, but I do remember getting it. For some reason, they went with the bed of spikes instead.

  7. Maybe to put hay on?

*lol* Yeah, it used to bug the shit out of me, even though I sort of find the film the last really good old-school Exploitation film of the series and a fine guilty pleasure for what it is.

It’s pretty much an old timey tractor harrow. I know because my mother’s side of the family is perdominately rural southeast Missouri farmers before most of my uncles and my mother’s dad (my other grand father of course) retired before his death. Hope I helped. :)

And yeah: On the extra interviews on the His Name Was Jason DVD set, Dick Wiend mentions that originally his head was supposed to be sliced off and roll down an impankment.

  9. time to get your hands dirty

  10. A RAD TAD TAD TAD TOOOOOIE

  11. there is a pretty eclectic mix of people in that movie. what part of New Jersey is that? I’m from the northeast and I’ve never seen anyone like Ethel and Junior. wtf

  12. f13ticket and brandon,
you’re right. That’s what it’s from. Thanks for setting that straight. ;)

  13. No problem jasonsfury my good man!

By the way, I’m not an expert or that rural or anything, but oddly enough, if anytime a farming-centric question should come up for the site, don’t be afraid to ask me, as I tend to know quite a bit from three of my uncle’s and two grandfather’s being farmers in one state. It’s no trouble, really, and your welcome. ;)

  14. “You talking to me sheriff?”

  15. Thanks for clearing that up. I always thought the writers were just being lazy and threw in a random bed of spikes.

  16. “Thanks for clearing that up. I always thought the writers were just being lazy and threw in a random bed of spikes.”

*lol* No problem! It’s all totally cool. ;)

And ya know the funny part? As I’ve shown younger fmaily my favorite horror series, rather it’s been my youngest nephew or two other relatives or three past friends from other states that I no longer see, I’ve been asked “Whoa, a conviently placed bed of spikes? God damn that’s lazy!”, or the “Ah, hmmm, just what the Hell is THAT?” type responce, and I’ve had to explain it.

And yeah, the accents of Ethel and Junior always did worry me, because the series indeed supposed to be New England territory, and so it does bother me some. But also as problem matic is it’s quite obvious that Parts 3, 4 and 5 are all shot in the southern California part of the state, because of the total lack of any real vegitation for the most part. The Final Chapter does a slightly better job of hiding it, but for the most part, if you’ll notice, the film makers can’t do much to hide the fact that it’s a West Coast shot movie substituting for the East Coast.

Ah well, nothing major. I’d say I find Part V a good guilty pleasure of mean-spirited old school Exploitation goodness, although it’s not high art, and only a grade C+ for me. I much prefered the three that came before it myself, as I’ve stated, but Pam, Violet and of course Tina are some of the hottest ‘real’ girls of the series, who actually act normal and appear to eat and look very nice. Too bad we’ll never see the exercised gore, but all well. So it’s a decent movie, although not high art of course.

  17. Would have been a neat homage to the first movie to see Roy’s head get sliced off by either Pam or Tommy.
